#WorldEnvironmentDay is June 5 - an important day to spread awareness and even make a plan for how you can take action to protect our environment. An important element is our ever-changing climate, including weather impacts and increases in extreme weather events in both frequency and intensity. Check out how DTN weather intelligence aligns with the goals of one initiative called "Early Warnings for All." #WorldEnvirontmentDay #WED #WeatherIntelligence #weather #climate #WeatherAware
Today is #WorldEnvironmentDay; a day designated by the UN to promote awareness and action for protecting the environment. As climate and environmental challenges evolve, the United Nations and World Meteorological Organization created the critical "Early Warnings for All" initiative. Weather intelligence delivered by @DTN continues to foster crucial efforts aligned with this initiative through our many years of successful public private engagement (PPE) with National Meteorological & Hydrological Services (NMHS') globally. Learn more about why this initiative was prioritized, including a progress report and the pillar leaders: dtn.link/z6c57s #EW4All #EcoDay #WED #weather #WeatherIntelligence #ClimateIntelligence #WeatherAware #WeatherAwareness #RiskCommunication #EarlyWarnings #WeatherAlerts

Introducing Our Fire Probability Map: A New Tool for Predicting Wildfires Excited to share our latest development: a fire probability map crafted from historical fire hotspots and current fire weather data. This map is designed to pinpoint areas at greater risk of future fires, driven by the pressing realities of climate change. To ensure the accuracy of our predictions, we validated our map against recent active fire locations. The results are promising – most active fires align with our high-probability regions, particularly in the boreal forests and the forests of British Columbia and Alaska. Check out the attached map to see how data and technology are shaping our fight against wildfires. There are thousands of public, private and academic weather networks around the world collecting critical information about the environment. Having a central data hub for this information improves decision-making, saves lives, protects property, and educates new generations on Earth’s weather and climate. Scientists are warning that sea levels along the US coastline could rise by as much as 12 inches from 2020 to 2050 due to the climate crisis. Recent floods in the south-east US highlight the destructive impact of higher sea levels and warmer temperatures. Climate Central researchers are utilizing artificial intelligence to forecast how climate-related flooding will impact US communities over the next 75 years if current warming trends persist. By 2050, high-tide flooding is expected to triple, and what are currently considered 100-year floods could become annual occurrences in New England.
How bad will flooding get by 2100? These AI images show US destinations underwater
