Rutgers University collaborated with #engineering leaders and members of NJDOT, NJ Transit, Port Authority of NY NJ, MTA, and Gateway Development Commission to help Pave the Way to Meet the Future of Transportation Infrastructure. Bringing together industry leaders, government officials, and academics, the May 2024 symposium at the School of Engineering sought to tackle critical transportation infrastructure challenges facing the New Jersey and New York metropolitan area. Through insightful panel discussions and keynote speakers, the event explored insights into technological advancements, design-build projects, asset management initiatives, and the role of collaborative partnerships in developing complex #infrastructure projects. Malcolm McLaren, McLaren's Executive Chairman of the Board, moderated the closing panel discussion with varied experts on “The Role of Engineering Innovations and Government-Industry-Academe Collaboration in Meeting Transportation Infrastructure Challenges”. Events like this are crucial for shaping the future of #transportation. By fostering collaboration and exchanging ideas, we can develop sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of our growing communities.

Here is a recent article that I wrote with Professor Mike Graul, Ph.D, P.E. that appears in the December 2023 Industrial and Systems Engineering magazine. Professor Graul and I have worked together for many years-- this should be of interest to many engineers!

The TEM program is certainly unique in the region. It is one of the few programs to examine how AI and other emerging technologies impact businesses and people.

As #engineers worldwide work to solve complex problems, overlapping objectives can cause unintended tensions. While these tensions can result in conflicting interests and goals, discussing them can lead to comprehensive solutions. The NAE collaborated with the University of California, Davis, to encourage inclusive discussions on #engineering solutions at the 2024 NAE Regional Meeting on "Tensions at the Edge: Competing Objectives in Engineering Solutions to Society’s Most Pressing Problems."
