Our current model of "a pill for the ill" is simply not working. Our aging population is getting larger and becoming more vocal about the quality of life they wish to have. So gone are the days when we give patients prescriptions and expect them to 'take as prescribed'. Our patients are seeking a chance to be a part of the decision-making process surrounding their health. And we owe it to them to listen and provide all possible options for their care. This is where value-based care deprescribing comes in. Deprescribing clinicians can benefit from a fee-for-service model where they can cater to the persons seeking their expertise. If you are ready to be paid for the value you bring to your patients through deprescribing, sign up for my deprescribing accelerator HERE 👉🏾https://zurl.co/sR7x

Here’s what we’re not gonna do… We are not gonna make any more excuses for failing our aging population. Yes...The same patients that look to us for our expertise and solutions to their health problems. We have become so dependent on medications to fix health-related problems that we have neglected the harmful impacts of overprescribing. Overprescribing can affect: 💊 Medication adherence and seniors struggle to keep up with the number of medications they have to take 💊Modifiable health conditions by masking them from the patient and preventing the lifestyle changes that can help the patient achieve their health goals 💊The quality of life for the patient by potentiating unwanted side effects. It is high time we turn our attention to fixing the problems that overprescribing has caused our patients. Deprescribing practice helps us target the needs and desires of our seniors. It helps us get all the stakeholders (patients, prescribers, practitioners) involved in making the best decision for the patient. Ready to learn how you can build a successful deprescribing practice? Men’s Health Month highlights some important statistics: heart disease is the leading cause of death among men, and men are three times more likely to commit suicide than women. Exercise can help to defend against both. At WES, we offer a company-wide fitness reimbursement plan to support our employees and their families. WES also offers sponsored medical plans and mental health support services. Your well-being matters—let’s prioritize our health together. #MensHealthMonth

Matthew Perry's death is a tragedy, but so is our healthcare system, and many of us are aware of these failures that are occurring throughout society with limited access to care and limited access to medications with a increased safety therapeutic index. Ketamine has one of the widest safety therapeutic index's of any prescribed medication. Unfortunately, the accessibility to the medication is greatly limited causing individuals to be forced to purchase substances on the street greatly increasing their chances of morbidity and mortality. At Revitalist, we encourage advocacy and accessibility under the direction of a medical professional. Ketamine addresses mental health conditions as well as pain conditions, and is showing positive evidence that it is beneficial in both the clinical and remote settings extending access to those that have limitations to care due to clinics not being present, financial limitations, inability to get off work, transportation limitations, etc. We must do better as a society in helping to gain access to clean medications with recommended dosing and frequency. The inaccessibility to these medications is forcing our society to purchase these substances on the streets leading to unfortunate and untimely deaths of our children, spouses, parents, and loved ones. Matthew Perry's dose of ketamine was more than 10,000x the recommended therapeutic dose for mental health or pain conditions. We need to delve deeper into the issue. We are losing more people daily to suicides and overdoses than we have ever lost in a war. Wake up, we are in a war with ourselves. We need to step back and devise a plan to help all. Clinics helping 5% of the overall population are not the answer. #ketaminetherapy #mathewperry #mentalhealth
