Honored to share that our new progress in #4D_printing of #shape_memory #PLA foam has been published in the #Manufacturing_Letters journal recently. In this study, for the first time, 4D printing of #polymeric_foams was successfully demonstrated. This was achieved by melt mixing a #foaming_agent (AZO) and #polymer below the decomposition temperature of the agent and #printing the mixture with a nozzle temperature above the decomposition temperature, which resulted in #in_situ foaming of the polymer. In addition, the effect of foaming agent content and programming temperature on the shape memory performance of #4D_printed foams was investigated. The good news is that the paper is #open_access, and the full text can be accessed through this link: https://lnkd.in/dc5amGYR Special thanks to our great #research_group for their contributions: Pedram Honari Davood Rahmatabadi Erfan Rassi Ismaeil Ghasemi Majid Baniassadi Mahdi Bodaghi Mostafa Baghani

Reputable companies such as Makino, who is well known for its high precision CNC machinery is also adopting additive manufacturing techniques. Integration of technologies will greatly differentiate itself from other solutions providers and create new value to the industry. But the question will be then are the customer ready. Will this be a case “if the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail”. Interesting to further examine how the business case outcomes will be.
This month's edition of #MakinoAMWhitepaper 📃 Title: Importance of Powder Quality in Additive Manufacturing To produce structurally sound, defect-free, and reliable parts with AM requires an in-depth understanding of existing printing techniques, feedstock materials, process control methods, and underlying mechanisms of common defects and their prevention. This whitepaper aims to discuss the important properties of powder feedstock that are regards as high-quality powders. Key highlights of this whitepaper - Different types of powder atomization - Metal powder-based AM technologies - AM powder characterization methods - Correlation between powder quality to AM part quality - Makino's materials experience Download our exclusive whitepaper here 👉https://buff.ly/4hlk0cs Don’t miss your chance to connect at the upcoming Formnext exhibition—visit us there to explore new innovations. https://buff.ly/3YHnBtV Follow us to stay tuned on our monthly Makino's AM Whitepapers. #AdditiveManufacturing #LaserMetalDeposition #powder characterization #nickelalloy #corrosion #hardness
