Support Students 🤝 Donate School Supplies On Aug. 19, nearly 25,000 Springfield Public Schools students will come to school eager to learn. However, not all of them will have the supplies they need due to lack of resources. To help support students and their families, SPS is launching Ready. Set. Supply!, its annual campaign to collect school supply donations so all SPS students can start the school year off right. "A new school year is an exciting time for students but it can also be costly for families, especially those with multiple school-aged children," explained Jessica Blake, coordinator of community relations. "We want to help fill those gaps and make sure every student has the necessary supplies to be success ready." Community members and organizations can help by donating school supplies or making financial contributions. I recently had the opportunity to connect with Ashby Field Primary School, a fantastic primary school at the heart of the Daventry community and learned about the incredible work they're doing to create a positive environment for their students. However, like many schools, they are facing increasing financial pressure and are looking for support from local businesses. There are many ways we can make a difference – from donating via their JustGiving page, supplying materials for school projects, or even volunteering our time and resources. Increasing financial pressure within schools is leading to heightened stress on teachers, as they face larger class sizes, reduced resources, and growing demands to meet diverse student needs with limited support. This strain can affect both their well-being and their ability to provide the highest quality education. Not only do our teachers provide the highest quality education, they also play a crucial role in safeguarding our children by creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that promotes their well-being and development. Beyond academic instruction, teachers are often the first to recognize signs of emotional distress, abuse, or neglect, and their vigilance is instrumental in protecting vulnerable students. By fostering trusting relationships, educating children about their rights, and collaborating with parents, school staff, and child protection services, teachers help ensure that students feel secure, valued, and empowered. SC Johnson makes every employee take a compliance and ethics training every year. Tom Tsatsaronis - has created a workplace violence and age discrimination against a protected class, that goes above and beyond any behavior situations provided in the online training. SC Johanson and their HR Department, claims that they have done an investigation on Tom’s behavior/workplace violence and age discrimination. I guess “Tom” is just a “difficult manager” to work for! There are (4) women that have come forward about Tom’s workplace violence and age discrimination. I have also had several employees that sit near me and within in 50-75 feet of my cube, approach me and said that I need to go to HR about Tom’s workplace violence/hostile workplace environment. The (4) woman and the several people that have approached me about Tom’s behavior can’t be wrong. I wonder what our peers think? There are (4) woman, 50 and older, (a protected class, (3) being 60 and older (again, a protected class). If you have worked at SC Johnson and have had similar issues with the company/HR, or have worked with Tom Tsatsaronis and have had similar workplace violence issues, age discrimination against a protected class (40 years and older), hostile workplace issues, belittling, etc. with please reach out to me.

As you may already know, I serve on the Board of Everybody Wins DC, a non-profit I care deeply about that offers free reading programs to children across the DC region, and we need your help. Research conducted by education officials has confirmed what we at EWDC already knew – the pandemic has had a disastrous impact on literacy and behavioral achievement for elementary schools, with Black and Hispanic students seeing larger declines than their peers. We are overjoyed to see that the children of Thundersley Primary School are enjoying their new IT equipment! Initially, pupils had to share their computers as the school didn’t have enough for a full class. Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to provide over 100 laptops to their IT suite. Thundersley’s students can now be online together, meaning that more can be accomplished in their lessons. The Primary School’s Deputy Headteacher, Steve Mackay, told us that in addition to their PCs, the children’s new touch-screen laptops offer all the resources needed to support their lessons compared to their old Chromebook’s. Northern Virginia is facing a big challenge. Only 29% of children living at or near the poverty line attend preschool in Northern Virginia. This puts one of our area’s most vulnerable populations at risk of falling behind. Our free preschool programs serve children who would otherwise be deprived of a preschool experience without this option. And, AART focuses on the whole family, not just the student! We collaborate with families to support their child’s journey and strengthen the parent/school relationship. We envision a future where all children, especially our most vulnerable, enter school prepared to learn and succeed. We strive for universal access to preschool as a part of public education, making the need for AART obsolete. Hello Colleagues, Connections, and Friends! The CohnReznick LLP Charlotte office CARES initiative for July has been collecting donations for Classroom Central. Through their partnerships, each $1 donated becomes $9 worth of distributed supplies for students in our community. These donations give students the supplies they need for a successful school year. Every dollar donated (via the link below) through the end of the day today will go to purchasing kits that will be given to local students in need. We will assemble these kits ourselves, and deliver them to Classroom Central next month. Please consider making a small (or large) donation to our local students and teachers! As teachers, we strive to understand and address the struggles they face outside the classroom. As back to school season is in full effect, many parents are busy preparing themselves and their children for the new school year. Educators are also busy preparing for the upcoming school year and some school districts will be fortunate enough to receive financial resources that help them equip its classrooms for new & returning students while others may struggle to make do with outdated resources for their classrooms. It comes as no surprise that Oklahoma ranks poorly amongst other states in the country in education ranking 44th overall in 2024. The Every Student Succeeds Act was signed in 2015 to address advancing equity to disadvantaged & high-need students, however, many school districts continue to miss out on opportunities to better serve its students due to political sentiments that fail to prioritize the next generation of leaders and thinkers. This year I decided to join some of my friends at Generation Why to help gather & distribute school supplies to some of the Oklahoma City Public Schools who were not as fortunate to receive state or federal funding to help provide its students the necessary resources they need for the upcoming school year. Last year #GNWY managed to raise over $12k to help students at F.D. Moon Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year. This year their goal is to raise $10k for more #OKCPS schools and also host another #FillTheBus drive to accept any donations from local businesses & organizations to help steer this mission.
