It is so important that we value the power of play and learning through play.
Happy International Day of Play! Play is powerful and deserves to be taken seriously. It is such an important part of how babies and young children learn about themselves, about how to connect with others and explore the world around them. It helps to develop skills that shape the rest of their lives – and they have fun while they are doing it. Every child deserves the time and space to play. #InternationalDayofPlay the LEGO Group https://lnkd.in/ejSREvgU

🎉 Celebrating International Day of Play with Lego Serious Play! 🧩 Today, we’re celebrating the importance of play in fostering creativity, teamwork, and innovation. At Mission Increase UK we’re embracing this spirit with Lego Serious Play, a fantastic method that transforms how we approach problem-solving and team-building. The video is of a participant’s response to: “Build a model to show your core identity - think about your values, competencies, what really matters to you. - a model to show who you are (in your mind) or as you see your self today.” Lego Serious Play is not just about having a great time (although it certainly is that!). It's about unlocking fresh perspectives, encouraging creative thinking, and building stronger, more connected teams. By creating models and sharing stories, we explore complex challenges and find solutions that might otherwise remain hidden. On this International Day of Play, let’s celebrate the joy of play and its amazing impact on our professional lives. Here’s to a future where creativity and collaboration flourish! #InternationalDayOfPlay #LegoSeriousPlay #Creativity #Innovation #TeamBuilding #PlayAtWork

Today is International LEGO Day! This day (January 28) marks the anniversary of the first patent for the LEGO brick, filed by its inventor, Ole Kirk Christiansen, in 1958. Since then, LEGO has evolved into much more than a toy—it has become a powerful tool for sparking creativity, innovation, and problem-solving. The principles behind LEGO building can be applied to tackle complex challenges, even in the workplace. There are several formal LEGO learning activities designed specifically for business environments. Examples include LEGO Serious Play (LSP), LEGO Education, LEGO Build Your Business, and LEGO Innovation Workshops. These activities leverage LEGO bricks to foster creativity, collaboration, and innovative thinking. At American Mensa, LEGO-themed initiatives like the Young Mensan LEGO Contest encourage young minds to explore their creativity and building skills. As we celebrate LEGO today, let’s reflect on how we can channel its creative power to build inspired solutions and foster collaboration in the workplace. Today June 11, we celebrate the first ever International Day of Play, officially recognized by the United Nations. 🎉 Because play is not just a pastime, it is a fundamental right of children and essential to their development. ✨Play builds resilience, instills confidence, fosters creativity and imagination. ✨Play heals through learning, life skills and emotional well-being. ✨Play is a universal language, transcending age, background and cultures. ✨Play encourages physical and communication skills. ✨Play is a safe place for ingenuity, social interaction, problem solving, role playing. ✨Play triggers questioning, curiosity and desire to learn more. As adults we often see play as an extra rather than a necessity. So today is a reminder that it’s quite the opposite in fact, and we need to put play back on the agenda. Every child should have the time, space and access to play, and this is why today is so important, and not just "an other Day of". At The Braille Program, we champion a fun and inclusive way to learn braille through play. Because play is how children learn naturally, and visually impaired children need it as much as any child in the world. We are proud to partner with The LEGO Foundation who initiated today’s celebration. 💡If you’re not sure where to start to encourage play for all children, here is in idea: take a minute to think about your childhood favorite game, and share why, how did it feel, what did you learn unconsciously through it… #internationalDayofplay #DayofPlay

Get ready to mark your calendars because June 11, 2024, is about to become the most playful day of the year! It's the very first International Day of Play! Did you know that even though the UN declared play a fundamental right for children back in 1989, only 30% of adults seem to know about it? Well, it's high time we remind everyone about the magic of play! That's where The LEGO Group and the LEGO Foundation come in, along with some other awesome people! They're leading the charge, saying how play can totally change lives and help children reach their full potential. They've even been hosting their own World Play Day for a couple of years now. But it's not just about LEGO. Everyone from the International Rescue Committee to Right to Play International is joining in. They're all saying the same thing: play is super important for learning and growing. Even though millions of children are missing out on playtime, we can still make a difference. Play isn't just fun; it's a game-changer for confidence, creativity, and building a brighter future. So, let's spread the word and get ready to party on June 11th! It's time to celebrate the power of play and ensure every child gets to shine. Who's with us at ORT SA CAPE?
