📣 Calling All Members and Affiliates of the BACP and Allied Professionals! Kindly consider this open letter to the leadership of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) addressing a critical issue: the need for a consistent and equitable ethical response to global conflicts, specifically focusing on the genocide and apartheid in Palestine. 🌍 Why This Matters: Our profession stands for anti-racism, social justice, and equality. Yet, recent actions (and inaction) by the leaders of BACP have shown a concerning discrepancy in these values, particularly in response to different global conflicts. This not only undermines our profession's integrity but also impacts counselors from minority communities. ✍️ Your Voice is Important: We are seeking support from our community to bring about positive change. By adding your signature, you'll help us urge the BACP to: Adopt a balanced approach to global conflicts. Show solidarity with healthcare professionals in Gaza and Palestine. Ensure their policies truly reflect equity and inclusive approach. Commit to a genuinely inclusive , non-bias and anti-racist stance. 🔗 Sign Here: https://lnkd.in/dv_jSAFs Share this message and encourage colleagues to sign on. Once frequently an overlooked issue within the humanitarian community when preparing for and responding to disasters, the #IFRC Asia Pacific MHPSS Collaborative, Danish Red Cross and Hong Kong Red Cross are coming together to support Nepal Red Cross Society in addresing the #MHPSS needs of people during crises. In #Nepal, one of the world’s most disaster-prone countries, which is also being disproportionately affected by the #climatecrisis, these efforts are essential. They enable #NRCS to take a leading role alongside the authorities in providing #MHPSS to those who need it most. #NoHealthWithoutMentalHealth #LeaveNoOneBehind Anders Ladekarl Karen Lieve Ria Hostens Fabrice Vandeputte Camilla Bruun Simonsen Louise Kryger Patricia Dumazert Mojica Shubhadra Devkota Alex Ssimbwa Pritthi Raj Barua, PMP® Prednison Morales Shreyasi Chhetri Azmat Ulla Peter Rothe Schultz Danish Red Cross in Nepal

Social and behavior change is crucial for building thriving health systems. Love seeing the synergy between our Yemen and Egypt teams as they improve healthcare quality in their respective countries through cross-project learning! #FamilyPlanning #HealthSystems #SBC #JSI
Social, behavioral, and system-level approaches are at the core of JSI’s mission to achieve better health outcomes for all. Our JSI #Egypt and #Yemen teams had the opportunity to connect in person for an inspiring project cross-learning experience in implementing social and behavior change (SBC) interventions aimed to address key barriers impeding access to family planning (FP), and facilitating increasing the uptake of FP. The #SBC lead with JSI in Egypt shared their project’s extensive experience in implementing successful SBC activities. These initiatives have been essential in addressing misinformation and rumors, eliminating barriers, and increasing the demand for family planning in Egypt. Both teams exchanged challenges, insights, best practices, and lessons learned related to effectively engaging communities and religious leaders, empowering family members, and creating a supportive environment for family planning services. The Yemen team is incorporating this learning into an updated SBC strategy that will help support improved #FP programming in southern Yemen. #socialandbehaviorchange #familyplanning #UNBeSciWeek USAID

We are pleased to announce the publication of our knowledge document on R&R interventions in the Western Balkans, as part of the R&R Working Group within the Global Action Platform initiative. I had the privilege of drafting sections on #GCERFprograms in the #WesternBalkans. Additionally, I coordinated the R&R workshop in Kosovo in September 2023, which contributed to the creation of this manual. The Global Action Platform effort brought together over 300 partners from 22 countries to enhance capacities, promote peer-to-peer learning, and advocate for preventing violent extremism. In the Western Balkans, GCERF has played a crucial role in organizing communities of practice and facilitating the rehabilitation and reintegration (R&R) of more than 350 returnees and 1,000 family members. GCERF established a thematic Working Group on R&R in 2021, training 132 frontline workers in #Kosovo, #Albania, #BosniaandHerzegovina, and #NorthMacedonia. This practitioner’s manual serves as a comprehensive guide for governments and frontline workers, offering detailed practices, addressing key challenges, providing recommendations, and highlighting examples of successful implementation. Many thanks to the R&R Working Group for their invaluable contributions to this initiative. Key sections covered: 1. Needs Assessment of Local Capacities on P/CVE and R&R 2. Integrative Approach on R&R: Trauma-Informed Care & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy 3. Art Therapy 4. Religious Counseling 5. Role of Family and Parents: Mother Schools Model 6. Working with Teachers & School Psychologists: Psycho-Social Support 7. Vocational Training for returnees https://lnkd.in/dZtBZgCY #RRWorkingGroup #GlobalActionPlatform #WesternBalkans #CSOs #PreventingViolentExtremism #RRRPrograms

From March 11th to 14th, 2024, I had the privilege of participating in the Training on Randomized Impact Evaluations for Humanitarian Professionals. . Hosted in collaboration with Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) / J-PAL Europe and Innovations for Poverty Action, this intensive workshop was tailored specifically for development professionals like us. Over the course of four dynamic sessions, we explored the complexities of impact evaluations, particularly focusing on programs aimed at promoting protection in conflict settings. . Highlights of the Training: 1/ Led by J-PAL affiliated professors and senior staff, each session provided invaluable insights into the nuances of randomized evaluations. 2/ Through engaging case studies, interactive workshops, and real-world examples, we gained hands-on experience in designing and implementing impactful evaluations. 3/ Small group discussions facilitated rich exchanges of ideas, allowing us to learn from one another's experiences and expertise. . Objectives achieved: 1/ I now have a solid grasp of randomized evaluations and their applications within humanitarian contexts. 2/ I’m equipped with the tools to identify and leverage opportunities for deploying randomized evaluations to drive evidence-based decision-making. 3/ I've gained strategies to effectively navigate the unique challenges of evaluating humanitarian interventions, particularly those focused on protection outcomes. . Next Steps: The knowledge and skills acquired during this training have not only enriched my professional toolkit but also inspired me to contribute meaningfully to humanitarian and development efforts. . I'm grateful for the opportunity and I have started to put my learnings into action! #RCT #ImpactEvaluation #HumanitarianWork #ProfessionalDevelopment
