I love sharing examples of what positive, future focused outcomes can be achieved when community, businesses and schools all work together. Thanks Alicia Poole for inviting me to be part of this feature article for HUNTERhunter.
Busy and bright is how Anna described the future of The Groundswell Collective in her recent interview with Alicia Poole from HUNTERhunter. She shared insights into some of her favorite Groundswell projects, including Urban Hum Tiny Forest and the Lake Mac Seed Library. Anna also talked about her favorite places to visit around Lake Mac and her reaction to being awarded Lake Mac Volunteer of the Year. What an impressive line up of locals to be included in. With Matt Hall Racing and fellow NSW Women of the Year finalist (One to Watch)- Sophie Berube. Read more here…. Anna Scobie Christopher Brown, Liam Lewis.

Over the next 6 months, as I’ve got extra time to fill my calendar, I’m looking to dedicate a serious amount of my time to long distance running. This will not only help me keep fit but gives me the head space to consider some of lifes challenges. For anybody wanting some creative lift or strategic space the outdoors is a great alternative to sitting in the office! (whether it's a 5km run or 50km run) I’m excited to let you know that I’ve joined The Green Runners community which brings together two of my personal passions; to live a more sustainable life and running. My pledges (which need to be renewed annually) are: 1. I will reduce my red meat consumption further. 2. For my running gear I will look into brands’ sustainability policies and only purchase from reputable brands. 3. I will take public or other environmentally friendly transport when commuting to running events. 4. I will advocate for The Green Runners group on social media and raise their awareness. I’d like to take this opportunity to ask my network to spend 5 minutes of your time looking over the website www.thegreenrunners.com or their Linkedin page https://lnkd.in/daZx6u-i and if you want to make a pledge please support the cause by signing up sharing your pledge/s. #freetime #inspiration #climatehelp #running #ultra #greenrunners

Is #CorporateSponsorship for the #Arts dead? This was one of the great questions raised in conversations at the Culture Business Conference. At a time, as I have oft remarked, when #ArtsOrganisations are having to speak to so many priorities, how can you also add the interests of for-profit entities that want cheaper-than-an-advertising-campaign exposure and engagement at the cost of a smattering of in-kind or minimal cash donation? For anyone in the SME #ArtsSector, you might wonder if #CorporateSponsorship for the #Arts was ever really live. Why? Because in my experience, it is very difficult to align the interests of sponsors and arts institutions that are so resource strapped (which is why you are trying to get sponsorship) that you are caught in a subsistence business model 'death roll' trying to fulfill sponsor expectations. And like the project-specific funding of yore whereby you could not embed infrastructure costs into funding applications, you usually ended up in a #FunctionalDeficit (or as your canny Scottish grandma might say, 'robbing Peter to pay Paul'). There are endless amounts of cutesy advice you will find on the interwebs, like 'encourage your staff and volunteers to wear sponsor merchandise' but you're an #ArtsOrganisation not a billboard. So, perhaps the news of the death of #CorporateSponsorship is slightly exaggerated. But it might need life support. And greater incentivisation from governments. https://lnkd.in/gEx6KhPV

This is a hard topic to envision claims on, but the more knowledge we garner the safer we can keep our children. The information on this webinar (which is open to anyone who wishes to view it) can give us information we need to prevent accidental drownings and provide insurance agents with the tools they need to explain necessary coverages and safety precautions to their insured's who own swimming pools. #webinar #watersafety #usli #insurance #liability
Do you or your insureds have a #pool exposure? 🏊🏾 Before you dive into summer and open up the pool for family and friends, take 30 minutes to attend our upcoming #webinar — Pool Safety and Drowning Prevention — to learn more from Megan McGreal Ferraro, Executive Director of The ZAC Foundation for Children's Safety. During the session on June 4, Ferraro will discuss the importance of water safety and how to create safer swimming environments. Learn more and register to attend at https://lnkd.in/e2meKfsc.

No One Runs Alone… Lessons from #Parkrun On Saturday, Honey 🐾 and I doned our high vis and braved Storm Bert to volunteer as tail walkers at my local 🌳Parkrun. Despite the howling winds 💨 and lashing rain 🌧️, 116 brave runners turned up, supported by 30 volunteers, to make the free 5km event happen. As tail walkers, our role was simple but powerful: making sure no one is left behind. That’s the joy of Parkrun, the tail walkers are last to finish everytime. So taking part is never about competition—it’s about #community, #wellbeing, and #showing up, whatever the weather. I love Parkrun almost as much as I love coaching! The core values are so similar… 🧡 Showing up consistently: It doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to be effort. 🧡 Being part of something bigger: Growth is easier when you’re surrounded by people who’ve got your back. 🧡 Taking small, steady steps: Just like running a 5k, personal growth isn’t about huge leaps; it’s about moving forward one step at a time. Whether it’s in running or coaching, the lesson is the same, #growth happens when we have a clear path, a supportive community, and the willingness to show up, rain ☔️ or shine ✨ What’s your version of showing up for yourself or others this week? #community #volunteer #showingup #keepgoing #highvisheros

Managing Stress with Running: A Tip for Students As it's exams and graduate job application season, it's natural to feel the pressure. But did you know that running can be a powerful way to relieve stress, clear your mind, and boost your productivity? Whether you're tackling final exams or navigating the job search, a good run can help you recharge and refocus. I’d encourage all students to consider joining a Parkrun (www.parkrun.org.uk) event. These free, weekly 5k runs (every Saturday morning) are not only a great way to get active, but they also offer a chance to connect with your community outside of the classroom. It’s a perfect way to clear your mind, get some fresh air, and return to your work feeling refreshed and energised. Taking care of both your mental and physical health is crucial during busy times. So, why not take a break and hit the pavement? #StressManagement #Running #Parkrun #ExamSeason #GraduateJobs #WellBeing #StudentLife
How do I join parkrun?
