Founder & CEO at Morning Breeze HealthCare, Inc. & Morning Breeze Endowment Fund. MBA Candidate with Quantic School of Business and Technology Nominee: "Start Up Business of the Year 2022" by CanadianSME.

"The Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions, should really dive deep into one of the fundamental flaws of the integrity of the workplace environment." "In Winnipeg, there is a high rate of nurses' complaints against employers with very poor management of harassment, bullying and violence." "Our team had first coined the term, "Payette Syndrome," to describe the poor workplace integrity with clusters of descriptors- bullying, harassment, toxic workplace, intimidation and all forms of violence and the "enablers" that perpetrate the workplace." "The term is named after Julie Payette, remember her?" These type of descriptors are not only being perpetrated by staff/employees but also by the HR and management. The Union, particularly Manitoba Nurses Union, has its own limitation on how to address this deep-seated problematic culture in the workplace." "Hint: Our team can only confirm that these experiences are within the confines of one LTC, we can not speak for others, regardless of their practice settings. This LTC in Winnipeg, has a very polished view with the public. That's the image of this LTC. And one colleague, commented, this workplace, "is rotten to the core." We can not blame colleagues, for this particular LTC who left in droves at the height of the pandemic." "The current Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act- Chapter W210, is so outdated. Part 10, Harassment Prevention Policy pages 141-142 & Violence in the Workplace, pages 142- 146 is so antiquated that the content is so vague that it does not reflect the current workplace integrity. And worse, how this Act is implemented is just mind-boggling, that total reform is needed at all levels to have guardrails and oversight for Employers, Unions and health regulators." "Keeping this type of culture unchecked, is just detrimental in building up the healthcare workforce, if not given serious attention." "Unfortunately, going after private provider of health services is just a waste of time and resources. Tackling Payette Syndrome, is a good start." Today, CFNU’s National Executive Board will be meeting with Health and Deputy Ministers from across the country to talk about the top priorities in nursing - coast to coast. Today, we will ask government leaders to start investigating corrupt, for-profit businesses that are pillaging our public system. We will remind them that universal healthcare is a human right. Today, we will begin discussing how we can improve Canadian healthcare by not poaching from other jurisdictions. How we can create baselines across the board and how we can address wait times. Recently, a speaker at the California Nurses Association said, “There is not a nursing shortage. There is a shortage of good jobs that qualified nurses actually want to accept.” That concept was illuminating. Especially here in Manitoba, with a nearly 23% nurse vacancy rate across the province. These meetings are key to staying unified, staying informed and staying the course. The situation we find ourselves in requires strategic solutions to end privatization, to reinforce that healthcare is a human right, and to create a culture that brings nurses back to nursing! 👊
