On Human Rights Day we remember all victims of human trafficking who are transported by means of air travel. Port-to-Port collaboration and an improved Airport Security Management System makes the aviation industry a key role player in the fight against human trafficking. It’s not difficult nor costly. It starts with the will and commitment to act. Until airports and airlines are audited on their safety measures to curb this heinous, transnational, illicit trade that buys and sells people, the probability is that the decision makers are oblivious to the extent which their businesses and government agencies enable traffickers, brokers and facilitators. On Human Rights Day, I fondly recall the gratitude when we were issued our first airport permits. We were excited about implementing our knowledge and skills in a new way towards stopping human trafficking. We saw trends change. We had data to back the need for this brilliant accountability-sharing project. We still believe that this project should be the global standard. Disruptions at major UK airports, including Heathrow, Manchester, and Gatwick, have led to long queues and delays attributed to Border Force e-gate issues. One bad day, whether due to personal or financial problems, inadequate training, or lack of structure and human capital, can lead to situations like these. However, the most important thing to remember is that we work primarily with people. We must recognize these gaps and signs to create an environment that prevents such behaviors. Often, our first impulse is to judge and criticize the individual without considering the entire chain of processes and leadership. Quality, above all, is about people!"

No excuse for showing no respect for passengers property, supervision is a must to prevent this behaviour and determine the cause of these actions, and if necessary to terminate employment on the spot. I also believe that cabin/overhead luggage needs to be strictly controlled to maximum dimensions. We've all seen individuals trying to force huge pieces of luggage into the overheads, waisting time,holding up other passsngers boarding, and quite often using the first available overhead locker on entry to the cabin, which may be quite a distance from their allocated seat. Such disrespect for those who can't use their own overhead locker directly above their seat. Another point, those idiots that decide once the seatbelt sign extinguishes, that they desperately need something from their huge bag, causing more disruption. Just think and use your head before boarding, don't be a frustrating moron onboard, lets all enjoy our flights. But airlines, please reduce the size of cabin luggage, it will make boarding much quicker !!!!

🛩 British man dies during severe turbulence;... Sad to hear this. Singapore Airlines has an impeccable record and such an incredible stalwart of the skies. I always wear my seatbelt throughout the entire flight no matter how longhaul it is ( a friend broke her ankle from unbuckled turbulence and it has always been a lesson learned for me). Successfully completed the Airport Council International (ACI) training on Combatting Human Trafficking. Government and Law enforcement agencies have the primary responsibility for identifying, apprehending and prosecuting traffickers, they have recognized that customer-facing staff working for transportation companies, including airlines and airports, can play an important role in preventing human trafficking cases. Once trained in specific human trafficking awareness, staff can be an additional set of “eyes and ears” providing vital information where trafficking is suspected. While raising awareness and training staff are critical, these initiatives will only be effective in preventing human trafficking if there are complementary actions taken by all stakeholders in the aviation industry relating to reporting of suspicions and follow up. Let us work together in stopping the flow of human trafficking in the aviation industry.
