A new Professional Footballers Australia report published today reveals the experience of the Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The report arrives following the conclusion of a record-breaking A-League Women season and as the Matildas prepare to take on the world’s best at the 2024 Paris Olympics in July. The report presents four pivotal recommendations. AFRICA VALUE MORE THE AFRICAN TALENT AND PROFIT MORE FROM THE AFRICAN VALUES! Can Africans in general learn and not repeat the mistakes they have in the past made (and are currently still making) in not recognising and valuing the talents they have in abundance! So long as Africans don't provide the African talents (in any sector whatsoever) with the appropriate environment for them to develop and evolve in Africa, then Africa will continue losing all the abudant talents born in the continent! Some of us Africans wrongly think "brain drain" is the sole problem Africa has! It's highest time all Africans know that Africa is suffering from an identical "resource drain" of a systematic nature in every sector! How will a continent ever develop when it's allowing it's most valuable resources to be systematically exploited by all others for nothing more than "an apple and an eye"?

During the latter part of the Rugby World Cup semi finals, South Africa's Springboks sprung back to glory and lived out a quote from Malcom Gladwell's book, Outlier: "If you work hard enough and assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desires." The excitement I feel for the future of African football is simply boundless! As we know a big portion of international football holds African talent but African leagues now need to shift gears and turn it up a notch. The rise of African players in top-tier leagues around the world is a testament to the immense potential that the continent holds. They're not just players; they're ambassadors of African football, showcasing their flair and prowess on some of the biggest stages. The development of youth academies, investments in infrastructure, and the increasing focus on nurturing local talent are shaping a future where Africa could become a football powerhouse. The Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) 2023 kicked off Jan 13, 2024. It ends on Feb 11, 2024, when an AfCON champ will be crowned. It's being played now because it was scheduled to be played July 2023, however, that's rainy season in host country, Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast). Remember last week when I posted about language that most of Francophone ECOWAS was sanctioned? Côte d'Ivoire, up until a few years ago, also had a coup d'état. However, they've been able to get things back on track, won the bid to host AfCON 2023 and invested over $1 billion to build new hotels and update/build new football stadiums for the tournament. This, in turn, will boost the economy not only in Côte d'Ivoire, but neighboring countries such as: Ghana, Liberia, where you can pass through to get to Côte d'Ivoire. Everyone wins 🏆!!! The AfCON is the biggest international men's football (only America calls it soccer) competition in Africa. Sadly, the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone didn't qualify this year, but we'll throw support to ECOWAS nations that qualified. Why's football so important in most African nations? I don't know...but it's ingrained in you from childhood. I'm as fair weather as they come when it comes to football, let me see Sierra Leone's men's or women's team playing...I'm locked! Outside of America, football is the biggest sport in the world. Football is starting to take off in the America, it's a slow burn, I guess, lol. However, for most African young men, football is an opportunity to not only engage in sport, competition, opportunity to hone one's skills; there's something bigger at stake: opportunity to perhaps leave their present country, play international football and be able to take their families out of poverty. This is why so many are drawn to football, why Premier League, UEFA and La Liga, etc, are followed soon keenly. Most have this dream of playing pro football. For me, I sponsor the football team in my Chiefdom in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱: Bubuya F.C. (football club - jerseys shown below). They asked for new football kits last year (jerseys, boots (gotta be in the know to know they're not called "soccer cleats", etc). I delivered and declined putting my name on the jerseys, as the players requested; it's for the community, not about any one individual. When you live in a community with no access to electricity, as it's not yet on the national power grid, very few things to entertain yourself...all you have is football and your battery operated radio to listen to football games/scores. So, whilst it was a financial undertaking, the young men benefit from it. They get to pursue their life's dream of playing pro football one day. Who am I to deprive them of the simple joys of life? AfCON presents a TREMENDOUS opportunity to showcase your talent and perhaps to be able to get called up to a higher/more competitive league. You get to rep your nation ✊🏾. Kudos to the Greeks for creating sport. Really brings people from all walks of life together.

So, this is what happens when you invest time, resources and local leadership into amazing (and too often ignored) girls of talent and promise. So proud of our entire team of student-athletes, coaches and staff who (as best we can tell) have become the first youth team on the planet to claim a Champions League qualifying spot -- while doing it as the youngest team to ever to saunter into the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) big dance. When is enough football? FIFA and UEFA are still obsessed with the idea of “growing football”. Their big tournaments having more and more teams in. Arsene Wenger has this idea of making football “truly global”. (eg https://lnkd.in/dYWd--Sg ) When every other photo of an indigenous child in South America, Africa or Asia shows them with a Barcelona shirt on, isn’t that “truly global” enough? With 4bn fans around the world, how more global does he want? It would be good to understand what he means by “truly global” and why that is better than what we have today. Today, football follows the money. Therefore “truly global” will only happen if wealth is equally spread around the world. And then, how he would square that with the need to cut emissions and keep within planetary boundaries? The players and managers don’t seem to want more games. I wonder if fans are asking for more games or competitions to be expanded. Rather, the strategic challenge for football (and for other already global, highly commercialised sports) is: How do we rein in the monster? How do we safely decommercialise? How to we end the money-powered arms race? How do we kindle a spirit of sportingness and fair play (take a tip from snooker)? How do we curb the malign influence of advertisers and sponsors? How do we cut resource use? How do we reject the unwholesome influence of regimes led by dictators and tyrants? How do we prioritise joy and health and mental wellbeing? How do we encourage and help people without the opportunity to enjoy leisure-based physical exercise? How do we put soulful, amateur pleasure before technocratic, elitist obsession? How does sport help nurture social fabric? And a darker set of questions … Are we ready for a world where there is no such economic surplus which allows for leisure time? How do we channel surplus bodily energy into building resilience rather than scoring goals? How do we help children in poor countries who didn’t make it in elite sport, repair their shattered dreams and avoid them getting radicalised? Truly global is a nice idea but in the light of the above questions it is neither a solution nor should be a priority. #football #globalism #climateemegency #enough #arsenewenger

Just curious what the thoughts are here on World Juniors ? Reason I am bringing this up no team Russia which I think is Total BS! We have team Germany we know the history there in there also we have Team Switzerland which hosts all the globalist scams of WEF so I mean do we just have a 4 team tournament then ?
