I had the honor of discussing on the subject "#Revolutionizing Education: The Path to #Nation #Building" as a panelist in a webinar organized by #UniAthena on the 3rd of May, 2024. All development becomes possible through education. Our young people are looking for guidance and an education system that will make them productive immediately and today. Education revolution means that there was a previous education system that no longer meets the current development needs of the country. Hence the need to design a new education system capable of integrating everyone into the economic contribution to the GDP in each Nation. Our meeting took place around 3 objectives, namely: 1-Understanding the essence of revolutionizing education. 2-Understanding the #role of #education in the nation building. 3-Understanding #how to #implement this #new #educational #system in the #sustainable #development of our nation. The Vision is to establish a new education system based on more ingenious, direct and pragmatic learning where each primary school to universities will have #manufacturing "#workshops, #laboratories and #control, "economic and "legal "centers. It is no longer normal to train #students for 14 to 18 years of schooling before getting them to #contribute to #economic #development in our countries. We need to rethink the system. -Most #graduates don't know #how #to #sell a #product or #service or #how to #advocate for #themselves in life. -Despite most projects carried out in high schools & universities, #students #notice a difference between their classroom lessons and #reality in #companies. That must change! -What's the point of having intelligent students who contribute nothing to the #country's #GDP? -What is the point of having an education system out of step with the realities of the professional and business world? -It is unacceptable to wait in the future to have graduate students before recruiting them. It is time to think about a new system where each #layer of #Society #contributes to the lasting and sustained development of the Nation. Why do our educational systems cling to outdated industrial-age standards in an era of information abundance? It's time to reform education to unleash individual potential and create a consistent framework for success. Our youth deserve a system that nurtures and challenges them to reach their full potential. The collective success of our country depends on it. #EducationReform #FutureReady #DanielRyanCurtis

Why isn't higher education free in low- and middle-income countries? It's a question that invites us to delve into the intricate web of economic, social, and political factors at play. 🎓🌍 1. Economic Constraints: With limited resources and competing priorities, governments often struggle to allocate funds for free tertiary education. #Economy #Education 2. Historical Context: The legacy of colonialism and dependency on external aid have shaped educational systems that may not prioritize free higher education. #History #Aid 3. Structural Challenges: Underdeveloped infrastructure and the need for qualified faculty are significant barriers to providing quality education without tuition fees. #Infrastructure #Development 4. Social and Cultural Factors: Cultural expectations and the perceived value of education often lead families to invest in their children's future, perpetuating tuition fees. #Cultural #Social 5. Global Health and Development Priorities: With pressing health challenges and Sustainable Development Goals to meet, education must compete for attention and resources. #Health #SDGs 6. Policy Choices and Political Will: The policies and commitment of political leaders are crucial in shaping the landscape of free higher education. #Policy #Politics The path to free higher education in LMICs is complex but not insurmountable. It requires a collaborative effort to address these multifaceted challenges. #Global #Collaborations

As we mark this year's International Day of Education, we are seeing a swell of hatred, intolerance, and discrimination around the world. A recent UNESCO-IPSOS survey conducted in 16 countries revealed that 67% of internet users reported had encountered online #HateSpeech and that 85% were concerned about the impact and influence of disinformation on their fellow citizens, viewing it as a real threat which can destabilize societies. We do not need to look far back in history to see what happens when hate goes unchecked. Too often, what begins with words transforms into physical violence. It is at this intersection between hate speech and violent conflict where we find ourselves at the start of this new year. Education often falls victim to these conflicts. Tens of millions of children are deprived of their right to education as they are displaced by armed conflict, gang violence, and climate change. These disruptions have implications both for current generations and for the future. We cannot continue on the current path. Now is the time to reactivate peace as a core value and to redouble our efforts towards constructing and maintaining peace. Building peace is more than just the absence of war and direct violence. It’s a positive and participatory process that depends on the actions of each individual. Education is critical in this process – as a preventive tool to protect, build, and sustain peace before, during, and after conflict. This vision lies at the heart of UNESCO’s new Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights, and Sustainable Development. It serves as a roadmap to redefine the role of education in the 21st century. The Recommendation is a tool for transformation that covers all levels, all types, and all aspects of education. It can serve as a resource for advocacy, an inspiration for action, and a benchmark for measuring progress. On #EducationDay, let’s remember the transformative power of education for equipping learners with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to tackle the great challenges of our times, from climate change to the digital revolution to violent conflict. https://lnkd.in/deGRNYvV
