Helping Mexican MSMEs through their digital transformation journey I Creator of "A playbook for the digital transformation of MSMEs" I Engineering Student in Business Digital Transformation
🛩 🇨🇳 🇯🇵 🇭🇰 🇲🇾 🇹🇭 🇻🇳 🇸🇬 🛩 Dear community, 🌏 Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMSEs) form the backbone of the Mexican economy, contributing 42% to our GDP and generating 78% of employment. Despite their significance, only 15% have a solid digital strategy post-pandemic. 🚀 Thereby, I'm excited to announce that I've been awarded a sponsorship to join the prestigious TECNOLÓGICO DE MONTERREY's PLEI - Programa de Liderazgo Empresarial Internacional - International Business Leadership Program’s Asia 2024 mission. Starting June 21, this one-month journey will take me through seven key cities across Japan, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore. 📈 During this mission, I will be developing a Digital Transformation Playbook for MSMSEs. This strategic guide aims to provide actionable steps and innovative practices to help our vital sector not only navigate but thrive in the digital era. Each country I visit will offer unique insights and opportunities, allowing me to tailor effective digital strategies that resonate with diverse business environments. 🤝 I'm calling on my network—experts, enthusiasts, and visionaries in digital transformation and business development—to join hands with me. Whether it’s sharing expertise, insights, or support, your contribution can make a significant difference. 💼 Interested in collaborating? Let's connect and discuss how we can work together to empower MSMEs through digital transformation! #DigitalTransformation #MSMEs #Asia #China #Japan #HongKong #Thailand #Vietnam #Malaysia #Singapore #Tokyo #Beijing #Shanghai #Guangzhou #Shenzhen #HongKong #Bangkok #Saigon #KualaLumpur #Singapore #PyMEs

Pleasure to speak at the Nanyang Technological University Singapore, thanks to Sharon Ng, Nitin Nishandar and my good friend Pinaki Dutt Understanding how #theculturefactor impacts branding, and in general marketeers in their career development, is crucial when reflecting on the global-local question. Starting by looking at culture at a national level is a good start, but diving deeper is the secret ingredient. Understanding your brand identity, your target audience's cultural values, your own value preferences and the team in which you work are all crucial ingredients when reflecting on the global-local question.

During my Executive MBA program, I had the opportunity to travel in Tokyo and Seoul, exploring the business environments of South Korea and Japan—both dynamic economies in Asia with distinct business cultures. In Korea, the pace of business is incredibly fast. Decisions are made swiftly, with a strong emphasis on agility and adaptability. Conversely, in Japan, decision-making processes are more methodical, prioritizing consensus and precision. Communication styles also differ significantly between the two countries. In Korea, there's a directness and urgency in communication, in stark contrast to the indirect and polite approach prevalent in Japan. These differences in communication can profoundly affect both business negotiations and daily interactions. Understanding these nuances is crucial for successfully navigating these business environments. It’s fascinating to see how these distinct cultures play out in a business context. #LubarEMBA

Grateful for the opportunity to have an insightful conversation today with a CEO from Synergy House Berhad, whom I had the pleasure of meeting during our time at Zhejiang University. Over the past four years, he has led the company to achieve an impressive 400% growth and successfully listed it in 2023. This year, the company’s performance has continued to excel, growing by 60%. What stood out the most is his ability not only as a social connector but also as a diligent, hardworking leader with a strong focus on execution. He emphasizes selecting the right talent, staying ahead of market trends, and investing in research and development to maintain a competitive edge. His approach to learning from China’s success and adapting it to the Malaysian market is inspiring. Here are a few key takeaways from our conversation: 1. Choose the right people, and once you have them, ensure they are doing the right things, with an altruistic mindset. 2. Don’t resist change—especially in areas like e-commerce, social media, and AI. The old economic systems won’t return, so adapt swiftly. 3. Focus on research and development to enhance the company’s competitive advantage. China may be ahead, but focus on areas where they can’t compete, and don’t go head-to-head with the biggest players. 4. Ensure clear market positioning, understanding your company’s strengths, and placing them in the right market, especially in Southeast Asia. 5. Learn from China’s successes and apply them effectively in Malaysia. 6. As the team grows, embedding company values is critical for cohesion. This is essential for building a purpose-driven, large-scale business. Excited and thankful for this enriching conversation—looking forward to our next meeting! #Leadership #MarketPositioning #TalentManagement #R&D #Malaysia #ChinaExperience #Ecommerce #AI

🌏 From a “culture fit” to a “culture add” mindset, teams can enhance their operations with the diverse 🌈perspectives of all members. 🎓 Research by the Asian Psychological Association emphasizes that “developing #Asian leaders requires organizations to consider the cultural context and tailored training.” Traditional #leadership programs often do not address the experiences of individuals raised outside Western cultural norms. #Asian communication styles are not deficient, but simply different. They tend to be more nuanced and layered compared to the direct approaches favored in Western contexts. 💫 Multicultural #teams perform better and unlock more creativity when their differences are understood. Effective training empowers leaders not only to learn about cultural differences, but more importantly, to adapt their behaviors to lead effectively across those cultures. Instead of trying to fit everyone into this Western mold, organizations can benefit by adopting some of the collectivist values of many Asian cultures. For example, the Asian focus on group synergy can effectively complement the individualistic nature of Western companies. Simultaneously exhausted and on a high after an amazing week at INSEAD, Singapore this week, with 50 Entrepreneurs' Organization founders from around the world. What was particularly unique was the cultural diversity; no more than two people representing one nationality! I'm not sure about anyone else, but I've found the more senior I've become in business, the more I find myself advising and supporting, without having the same number of fresh inputs. This week was time to refocus on inputs. Amazing people and amazing learnings, with lots to unpack and implement. We covered sessions on creating competitive advantage, what a great strategy looks like, change management, separating diversity from inclusion, and the power of body language and persuasion. If you're lacking fresh inputs, hopefully this encourages you to seek the time out to explore further afield.

CEO of Brydan Group | Leadership Coach and Master Facilitator | Public Speaker | Author | Building effective leaders, teams & cultures through evidence-based models
Sometimes, it takes an epiphany for us to start taking action. I was 36 when my epiphany hit. For the Chinese, 12 years is a cycle— and I was already on my third. I started wondering how many more cycles I had left. If I hope to retire by 60, that means two more. And just like that, I felt a grappling urgency to create something of my own. So I left my high-paying role as a Principal Consultant I’ve been doing for more than a decade, to start my own company. I had always wanted to start a business— something that would positively impact my two sons and their generations. For me, the answer lies in personal development and culture building. Fortunately, I had 12 years on my belt as a trainer in the youth division when I started my first venture— Youth Inspired. Three years later, I founded my second company, Brydan Group, to start empowering those who have left the safe nest of the education system. Fast forward 15 years, I have teams to back my mission, I’ve trained over 100,000 in The Leadership Challenge and DISC behavioural profiling and even had the privilege to work with industry leaders in Hilton Group, Bank of Singapore, Bank of China, Lazada, Panasonic, Piaggio, SingHealth as well as government agencies like Ministry of Education, Workforce Singapore! 🙏 Sometimes an epiphany comes when your perspective of time changes. 35-year-old Melvin would not have started his own company, but 36-year-old me, who thought time was running out, made it. Now, what keeps me going is the belief that the impact we make in organisations and schools goes way beyond the present. It is all about moulding today’s leaders and setting the stage for a brighter path forward. If you’re thinking: - How do we nurture the next-gen leaders? - How do we build dream teams? - How can we redefine our organization's culture for progressive growth? I would love to connect, chat and share stories! #BrydanGroup #YouthInspired #leadershipdevelopment #employeeengagement

🌟 Thrilled to share an insightful encounter with my first face-to-face meeting with a LinkedIn Top Voice, Mike Sim, founder of NGL Institute. Our discussion revolved around strategies for successful fund management and nurturing the next generation of leaders in the field. 🔄 It's fascinating how things align; despite both of us considering rescheduling, we chose to meet, valuing the importance of commitment. I truly appreciate Mike’s swift grasp of my business model and interest, and within minutes post-meeting, he facilitated introductions to key contacts through LinkedIn. This exemplifies the transformative power of networking and clear communication. 🚀 📱 A "EUREKA" moment underscored how interconnected our worlds are when a message about Elvin Ting from Orange Room came to my phone and Mike revealed that they have a two-decade-long friendship between them. Mike even mentioned to take a selfie and send it to him. It’s a small world indeed! 🌍 🇸🇬 Singapore continues to amaze me with its tight-knit yet expansive professional landscape. The M&A sector for SMEs, often overlooked due to scale, holds untapped potential and hidden gems. 💎 I'm convinced that with a proactive approach to networking, we can uncover immense opportunities. 🙌 Let's keep embracing the journey—connecting, discovering, and growing. The universe works in mysterious ways, and every interaction might just lead to unexpected and wonderful paths. 🌌 🍵 It's also lovely to delve into the Singapore story, particularly the origins of Yakun and their signature tea. As a tea enthusiast myself, I find the rich history and local flavors not only comforting but a testament to Singapore's vibrant culinary heritage. 🇸🇬 🪑 On a lighter note, while the aesthetic of stools without backrests at local eateries adds to the authentic charm, they aren't as kind to my back—perhaps a subtle nudge for quicker customer turnover. 🇸🇬 #Networking #FundManagement #Leadership #GrowthMindset #M&A
