Celebrating Juneteenth: Empowering Change through Collective Giving ✊🏿✨ Reflecting on Liberation, Resilience, and the Power of Unity Today, we honor Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in American history when, on June 19, 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom. This day symbolizes not only liberation and resilience but also the ongoing fight for equality. As we commemorate this day, we have an opportunity to reflect on the power of collective giving and philanthropy in driving meaningful change within our communities. Why Collective Giving Matters 🤝 Empowers Our Communities: Pooling our resources amplifies our impact, enabling us to support initiatives that uplift marginalized communities. This collective effort ensures that more voices are heard and more needs are met. 🤝 Drives Systemic Change: Through philanthropy, we can address the root causes of inequality by funding essential areas like education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. This targeted approach helps create long-term, sustainable improvements. 🤝 Fosters Unity: Collective giving brings diverse groups together, fostering understanding, collaboration, and a shared sense of purpose. By working together, we can bridge divides and strengthen our communities. How You Can Make a Difference 💡 Donate to Black-led Organizations: Support groups at the forefront of social justice and economic empowerment. Racism and Discrimination in Massachusetts Nonprofits: A Civil Rights Perspective Between 2020 and 2024, Donald, a Black stroke survivor and member of Wrigcoll, Massachusetts' only Black-led nonprofit, was subjected to targeted attacks from three White-led nonprofit organizations: Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), Food for Free, Massachusetts Military Support Foundation. These attacks reflect systemic racism and discrimination under the guise of nonprofit work, violating Donald’s civil rights as defined under both Massachusetts and federal law. The Role of White-Led Nonprofits The actions of organizations like GBFB, Food for Free, which may promote charitable or community-driven missions, appear to have actively undermined the efforts of Black-led organizations like Wrigcoll. This reflects a systemic issue in which White-led organizations, perhaps unconsciously, perpetuate structural racism, thus undermining true racial equity. Their participation in racism and discrimination undercuts their missions and should be examined legally and publicly. Failure of Black-Led Organizations like BECMA The Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA) should have stepped up to support Wrigcoll. It is easy to champion Black businesses when it benefits optics, but real advocacy means standing in solidarity during hard times. In Donald's case, BECMA turned its back on Wrigcoll and other Black nonprofits during times of attack, failing to live up to its promise of advocating for racial equity in business and nonprofit sectors. This abandonment raises important questions: How can Black nonprofits survive if organizations like BECMA fail to defend them? Why is there a disconnect between rhetoric and real action when it comes to racial justice, particularly in Massachusetts? The negligence and failure of BECMA to intervene also highlight the broader issue of symbolic support versus actual advocacy, which harms Black businesses and community efforts. #FairJustice #Antiracism #StopRacism #EndRacism #RacismIsReal #Equality #Justice #SocialJustice #HumanRights #RealBlackEmpowerment #WhereWasBECMA #StandWithWrigcoll #RacialWealthGap #ImpactCollective #Boston #Community #Leadership #TrueBlackLeadership #RacialInequality #BlackLivesMatter #UnemploymentCrisis #EndRacism #JusticeForAll #RacialJustice #StopDiscrimination #BlackVoices #nonprofit #coporatethreat #internationaltrade #Injustice #RacismInTheWorkplace #EquityInEmployment #BlackWorkersMatter #NoMoreRacism #StandAgainstRacism #Freeman #DIV #FoodForFree #GBFB #Food #Whites #SupportBlackNonprofits #IsBECMABlackEnough #technology #MakingLivesBetter #RaceInAmerica #BlackStories #youmatter #usarmyveteran #usfoods #MFAN #work #medicine #amazon #hungeractionmonth #opportunities #Black #PowerOfCulture #mapoli #endorsements #ALC53 #LinkedIn #NECAC2024 #NECCelebration #technology #work #EndHungerHere #humanresources #digitalmarketing #creativity #future #management #CastleClient #leader

From 2020 to 2024, Donald, founder of Wrigcoll was attacked by Don Cox (President) of Massachusetts Military Support Foundation Inc. (MMSFI), and again by Food Police Brian of Greater Boston Food Bank. Donald also a former employee with Food for Free, over five years. These White-led nonprofits have repeatedly violated both Massachusetts and federal nonprofit laws by engaging in discriminatory and exclusionary practices. Under the Massachusetts Nonprofit Corporation Law (MGL c. 180) and IRS 501(c)(3) regulations, nonprofits are required to operate for the public benefit without engaging in actions that promote bias, exclusion, or harm to other organizations based on race or leadership. By attacking Donald and attempting to marginalize Wrigcoll—a Black-led nonprofit—they have violated the principles of equity, fairness, and non-discrimination embedded in both state and federal law. Such actions undermine the core purpose of the nonprofit sector, which is to advance the common good, not perpetuate systemic racism. We call for immediate accountability, as these organizations' behavior stands in direct contradiction to their legal and ethical obligations. Stand with us in demanding justice and ensuring that nonprofits adhere to the laws that protect fairness and inclusion. https://lnkd.in/eiDZXFrh https://lnkd.in/e3DYuuUf https://lnkd.in/ekhEm6rm https://lnkd.in/emqrQwaY www.mmsfi.org #leader #India #Innovation #Management #HumanResources #DigitalMarketing #Technology #Creativity #Future #CareerGrowth #RemoteWork #Sustainability #PersonalDevelopment #TechTrends #DigitalTransformation #WorkLifeBalance #Entrepreneurship #Entrepreneurship #Careers #Markets #Startups #Marketing #SocialMedia #VentureCapital #SocialNetworking #LeanStartups #Economy #Economics #socialmedia #socialnetworking #venturecapital #motivation #sustainability #healthcare #education #design #sales #fundraising #construction #economicopportunity #economicdevelopment #massecon #equity #sustainability #economicpolicy

We are still fighting for freedom, regardless of being “given” a day. Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a significant day in American history marking the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War had ended and enslaved people were now free. This was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Recognizing Juneteenth is more than just acknowledging a date; it’s about honoring the struggles and achievements of Black Americans, reflecting on our history, and committing to actions that promote equality and justice. As businesses and individuals, we have the power and responsibility to show up for Black communities. One impactful way to do this is by supporting nonprofits that are dedicated to expanding their reach and helping those who are disenfranchised. Organizations like Fearless Fund, Colorful Connections, and more are on the front lines, working tirelessly to create opportunities and provide resources to those in need. By donating to these nonprofits, we can help amplify their efforts in areas such as education, economic empowerment, health care, and criminal justice reform. Your support can make a real difference in building a more equitable society. Let’s use this Juneteenth to not only celebrate but also to take meaningful action. Together, we can foster a future where freedom and equality are truly realized for all.
