We are proud to share the success of our recent donation drive, made possible through a generous collaboration with the Detroit Police Department! Their dedication to serving the community has been instrumental in making this initiative a success. The sale of these items will go toward providing free programs and services to individuals with employment barriers, including those living with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Together, we collected over 4,000 pounds of gently used household items that will directly benefit individuals and families in need across metro-Detroit. A heartfelt thank you to the Detroit Police Department for their ongoing partnership and commitment to making a difference in our community!

Have you heard about the "2 Live 4 2morrow" campaign? It's an eye-opening initiative focused on shining a light on the harsh sentencing laws in Georgia, with a special spotlight on Lifers. By creating and selling unique designs with powerful messages like "Free-Dem" and highlighting the names of those who've been behind bars for over 20 years, this campaign aims not just to raise awareness but also support organizations fighting for criminal justice reform. Every donation made plays a crucial role. Not only does it help produce these thought-provoking items, but it also supports the invaluable work of organizations striving for a fairer justice system. Your contribution means you're standing in solidarity with those affected and aiding in the vital movement for change. Please consider making a donation and spreading the word about this cause. Let's join hands for justice reform. https://gofund.me/c4f4d39e

Back to School Fundraiser Imagine a world where every individual is treated with dignity and respect. Imagine a world where all schools follow trauma-informed, neuroscience-aligned, neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-driven, and collaborative approaches. At the Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint, we are working tirelessly to make that world a reality. Seclusion and restraint are harmful practices that affect numerous individuals and families, particularly those with children with disabilities, Black and brown children, and children with a trauma history. Our mission is to reduce and eliminate these practices and ensure safer schools for students, teachers, and staff. We need your help to continue this critical work. A gift of: $20 can provide vital support for families. $50 can support training for professionals. $100 can help us develop workshops and advocacy efforts. Your donation, no matter the size, will directly impact our ability to promote positive change and protect those in need. Together, we can end these harmful practices and create a better, more compassionate world. Thank you for your support. https://lnkd.in/eyPpBVqm #EndSeclusion

Justice is relative. Healing is relative. One size doesn’t fit all when it comes to justice and healing. Survivors deserve options, and restorative justice processes prioritize survivor-centered, flexible justice over the rigid framework of the criminal system. Our Restorative Justice Program is launching this Spring! Want to help make an impact? Joining the network with a $250 donation would help our pilot program lead two hours of a facilitated healing circle with those who have been harmed by domestic violence. 💚: https://buff.ly/3FHG53e

Who are the forgotten women? Why care about somebody I don't know? It doesn't impact me, so I don't need to bother myself with it..... Let's break the stigma and their silence, stand up, and educate ourselves and those around us. Support those without a voice and those who are too scared, embarrassed, or worried about judgment! 'The Forgotten Women', over 40,000 Queensland women over the age of 55 are homeless. Sadly this figure is due to increase twofold by 2036! With over 700 based in greater Brisbane. That is 700 women who are someone’s aunt, mother, or grandmother, struggling to keep their heads above water, often doing so in silence. I am calling all my LinkedIn friends, family and colleagues, Stand with me and support my team, we are taking on the Live Like Her Challenge 2024 to help more homeless women over 55 into homes. For one night, we will sleep in a car to raise awareness and funds for The Forgotten Women project, an initiative that is close to our hearts. This initiative hits close to home for me. I have seen close friends struggle to find suitable accommodation for their families, especially elderly mothers and grandmothers who have even had to couch surf with only the clothes on their backs and without the medication some need due to having to decide which bill to pay, the house, power or food?? We can never judge one's circumstances, but we can certainly change our thought process and help rather than hinder. For some, homelessness is due to financial strain, domestic violence and, in some situations, families who don't want anything to do with them. In a situation most of us could never imagine, these women often hold their heads high and suffer in silence, but they deserve a warm, safe home. Let's help raise awareness for such a worthy cause. To support us, click “Donate Now” to make a secure online donation as “Everyone deserves to live with dignity and age securely in place”. https://lnkd.in/gNZuyqEJ All donations over $2 are tax-deductible, and you’ll receive an automatic receipt via email. Thank you for your generosity and support. In the great words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” 👨👩👧👧 👭 👬 💛 #LLHC2024 #livelikeherchallenge #empowerchange #educateyourself #joinmetomakeachage #homelessness #livelikeherchallange2024 #theforgettenwomen #communityservice #inittogether #fundraise #brisbane #qld #womenmatter #family #beboldbebrave #communityimpact #initiative #breakthesilence #downerutilities
👭 Our #Water team will be participating in the 'Live Like Her Challenge 2024', an initiative to raise awareness and funds for 'The Forgotten Women Project.' ❤️ Alice Austin is leading the Downer effort alongside Caitriona Floyd, Jo Rogers, Emily Auchettl-McHugh, Samantha J. and Aleisha-Marie Billing to help highlight the increasing number of homeless women over 55 facing hardship and sleeping in their cars. 🙏 If you would like to support the team and make a donation towards this worthy cause, please follow the link: https://lnkd.in/gBf4DqH9) #LLH2024 #LiveLikeHerChallenge
