✨ "I have autism, what's your disability" - Cameron, 321 Barista ✨
Happy Disability Pride Month! 🤩
I feel very lucky to interact with people with all types of disabilities every day, and I am better off because of it.
One time I was working with one of our baristas named Cameron. If you've ever visited 321 Coffee when Cameron is working, you know you're in for a treat. She greets everyone with a smile and a rapid-fire series of questions like, “What’s your favorite boy band?”, "Who's your cartoon crush?" and “What did you name your car?”. It's AWESOME.
One day, Cameron said to a customer, “I have autism, what's your disability?” I saw the customer tense up, and I was ready to step in.
I saw the customer exhale and say, "You know, I'm not very good at math". Cameron, with her ever-present enthusiasm, quickly said "Well I'm great at math! If you were born in 1970, you just turned 54!" and the conversation continued.
Cameron taught me so much in that moment. She showed me the value of vulnerability and the importance of genuinely connecting with others beyond the surface level. This is just one of the many examples of how you can learn so much from surrounding yourself with people who are different from you.
At 321 Coffee, we celebrate people for who they are because there is so much value in diversity. When you put people from different backgrounds together, it challenges the way you think, highlights your blindspots, and offers fresh perspectives. This is what gives us the power to grow and the ability to innovate!
This month is all about celebrating the experiences, achievements, and challenges of the disability community. Something that 321 absolutely loves to do (regardless of what month it is!) 🎉
So cheers to being different!

Happy Disability Pride Month!!
Did you know that July is recognized as Disability Pride Month because it marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that was signed in July of 1990?
This month is all about recognizing the disability community's experiences, achievements, and challenges, with the goal of promoting visibility of people with disabilities. Something we try our best to do everyday!
We're grateful for this team of baristas, and love creating spaces where they can own and celebrate every part of who they are ✨
