Mike Johnston Sir, this is your first post about Veterans since assuming command as Mayor of Denver. While your attention to the issue is appreciated, it regrettably fails to highlight the resilience and greatness of our Veterans, instead focusing on a plight I know all too well. Unsolicited Advice: Scrap the 2024 & 30 day deadlines. Focus on winning hearts and minds in the first six months, not the metrics. Veterans are not a $100 million problem; we are an untapped asset in every community across America. We want to help but understand that making such bold promises will earn you the opposite of respect. ✔ Empathy and understanding must be the cornerstones of your mission. While you're not a Veteran, I believe you can understand us, if you try. Your book proves it. Be the civilian politician we can rally behind - it'll set you apart from the others. I am entrenched in the daily struggles of Colorado's homeless Veterans. If you're committed, you have my full support. There's room for improvement, but no way to worsen the situation. ✔ I have supported your Golden Triangle GNA efforts, and now I ask you to support mine. Save us from more instances of political lip service or the insights of detached academics. We are painfully aware of the challenges; now, action is needed. I'm hopeful you have the solution. When you understand that you cannot save every homeless Veteran - then you'll understand the U.S. Veteran and the depth of mission mindset. It cannot be unprogrammed, homeless or not. ✔ What we require is understanding, a platform to share our stories, and solutions to our challenges. It's that simple. I know all about your Veteran Homeless Program, for I have been through it; it's wanting. Mike - If you're going to get in this fight, then fight. We don't need you, but we can certainly use your character, network, and influence. ~Marche ou Creve Respectfully, Carlos Frank #veteransuicideawareness Let's Chat: jump@parachutegroup.co Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Mt. We're on a mission to make Denver the biggest American city to put an end to unsheltered homelessness for veterans, and we want to do it by the end of 2024. We’re teaming up with community partners to quickly identify veterans living on the streets, and then connect them to housing vouchers or other subsidies. We'll move forward by identifying and resolving any news cases in 30 days.

🌟 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘂𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱? I recently posted some stats about Veteran Homelessness in the US. As part of our commitment to combating veteran homelessness, we're proud to declare Diamond Sharp Capital's initiative to participate in the HUD-VASH program. This initiative allows us as multifamily property and mobile home park owners to offer housing to homeless veterans, providing them with the stability and support they deserve. ✅ Here’s How We’re Making an Impact: 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗛𝗔𝘀: We're collaborating with Public Housing Authorities to ensure our properties meet the HUD’s standards and are accessible to veterans in need. 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴: Our properties undergo inspections to guarantee safe and decent living conditions for veterans. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀: By participating in HUD-VASH, we're not just offering homes; we're helping heroes rebuild their lives. This is just one of the many ways we're striving to make a difference. Join us in our mission to provide veterans with a place to call home. Together, we can make a significant impact together! Want to join in the cause? In the Twin Cities, two noteworthy projects, the MACV Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans and Avivo Build Projects, through Lennar and Housing First Minnesota Foundation, have brought hope and transformation to the community. The goal is to impact the lives of those affected by homelessness significantly. Currently, 250 veterans are registered as homeless. To address this issue, 15 homes have been constructed so far, aiding in transitioning individuals out of homelessness. Looking ahead to 2025, the plan is to establish a campus comprising alternative dwelling units (ADUs). The envisioned campus could accommodate up to 30 ADUs, substantially contributing to the fight against homelessness. https://lnkd.in/g_v3sUFD

𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 - 𝐉𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐬𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐰'𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀2𝐏 After a life-altering accident left him paralysed and on the brink of homelessness, Jake Bilsborow found more than just a house with Access 2 Place — he found a home that set the foundation for his new life. At A2P, we understand that secure housing is the bedrock on which individuals can rebuild their lives. Jake's home was tailored to enhance his independence, with features that support physical needs and an environment that fosters community and belonging. Today, Jake is not only living independently; he's thriving as a key player in Sturt's wheelchair football team and an active community member. His story is a powerful reminder of how integral a secure and supportive home is to recovery and resilience. "Access 2 Place has given me a new lease on life," says Jake, "I can’t thank and recommend them enough." Jake’s remarkable journey was also featured on 9 News! At Peak Living Services we're tackling systemic homelessness head-on in West Virginia, with a focus on three key populations where we've made significant strides: veterans, re-entry individuals, and the disabled community. Veterans: It's an honor to say that we now provide services to 2/3 of the state's homeless veterans. Our mission is to extend this support, ensuring that no hero is left without a place to call home. Re-entry Program: With a staggering 95% success rate, our re-entry program is rewriting futures and drastically reducing recidivism rates. While the national average hovers around 70%, our approach provides the stability and resources necessary for a successful transition back into society. Disabled Community: Our tailored services for disabled individuals experiencing homelessness are designed to create accessible, supportive environments where they can thrive. At Peak Living Services, each success story fuels our drive to end homelessness. Join us in celebrating these milestones and become a part of the movement towards a future where everyone has a place to call home. #PeakLivingServices #HomelessnessSolutions #VeteranSupport #ReentrySuccess #DisabilityInclusion #WestVirginiaCommunity #SocialImpact

CALLING FOR UNIFICATION Homelessness is not an individual issue. It is a community issue. Our organization, Vision Possible, aims to conduct a God-given vision to help the homeless regain their lives and be productive citizens like you and me. However, no matter how ardently we desire to conduct the mission, we cannot do it alone. We need your involvement: We need your support to conduct the necessary tasks to resolve an insurmountable issue such as this. We realize this task is not minuscule; however, we firmly believe that collaboration between groups acting in solidarity to resolve this issue is attainable. We, therefore, solicit your assistance. We hope you will consider donating to Vision Possible to enable us to accomplish our mission at https://lnkd.in/gfSuCkA9 "Above all, keep loving one another earnestly since love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever." (1Peter 4:8-11)

I learned some things on my sabbatical working with the homeless that might interest you. 1. Many people are vulnerable to homelessness. I worked with a young music pastor that was in a car wreck and in a comma for six months. He lost everything during this time and was without any solid family support. How would you fare if you didn't have a payday for 6 months? 2. Modern street drugs are absolutely devastating. There are thousands of stories of people that tried fentanyl or meth a single time and spiraled into uncontrollable addiction. What ever your politics, for love of your fellow man, work to lessen the availability of these poisons. There is an economic term "Supply makes its own demand", and this is very true for modern drugs. 3. It is not all hopeless. First hand I observed many hardened convicts, former addicts, and folks with hard luck get on their feet again and prosper. But it takes good programming and sometimes tough love to help reach their goals. Finally, in my humble opinion, giving to homeless ministries and organizations is a very rewarding investment. However, take time to understand the organization because not all organizations get successful results. I am biased here, but strongly endorse the House of Refuge Sunnyslope. Here is their website if you want to support a good organization. https://lnkd.in/gR2daZZ8

What is one step can you take in your complex situation today? People who step in instead of away are my heroes. And my encouragement. The complexity: response to people living outdoors. Why do we do it? How do we do it? Who are the decision makers? Who are the funders? How do we learn from the people living this experience and expand our plans to let them help write them? A few of the hundreds of questions. The step: one household that now lives in a home. A #housingfirst step toward stability, calling on people with passion and dedication, federal funds, donations, and many other resources. It's a huge effort that begins with a "simple" mission of "everyone needs a home." Way to go, CATCH Idaho! Here's to 2024.
See all those tiny houses? 👀 Each one represents a household that is no longer experiencing homelessness 🧡🏠 “2023 was our biggest year yet! We proudly provided housing for a record-breaking 225 households, surpassing our previous record by an astounding 52 households! This monumental achievement marked a significant milestone in our relentless pursuit of making home a reality for every individual in the Treasure Valley.” - Stephanie Day, CATCH Executive Director Huge thank you to our staff, partners, volunteers, supporters, and community for making this work possible. Together, we are, and we will continue, to change lives 🧡🏠 To learn more about our impact last year, visit our website and read our 2023 Annual Report: https://lnkd.in/d9uCeveW

Settled (https://lnkd.in/eWwBVqc4) exists to cultivate home with the homeless, who have experienced a profound and catastrophic loss of family. Through a holistic, research-based response, Settled builds intentional tiny home communities on underutilized church land called Sacred Settlements, where they develop the ethos that shapes the Settled culture. Sacred Settlements are an innovative, research-based way to address long-term homelessness by developing holistic tiny home communities in cooperation with a faith community. Each resident has his or her own tiny home, placed alongside others on the underutilized land of religious institutions. These settlements are designed to foster community through regular interactions with others and working with the broader community to live a lifestyle of service. Settled was birthed out of Founder & CEO Gabrielle Clowdus doctoral research on chronic homelessness and affordable housing, where she discovered the critical response is enduring relationships. She lives at the Settled homestead in Minnesota with her husband and their four daughters, where they practice standing at the crossroads, looking, and asking for the ancient paths. We’re interested in ventures, like Settled, taking non-traditional approaches to these massive issues—including but not limited to areas like technology, materials, supply chain, governance, and business and incentive models.
