Yet, water risk is a tangible result of climate risk, impacting societal values, supply chains, operations, corporate valuations and cost of equity. The Australian Government, through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, has opened consultations on a future national water agreement, and support and empower Australian water resource experts and its sector to deliver an efficient and sustainable water industry for the benefit of all.   We thought it was a great opportunity to reshare a recent piece from Greg Claydon PSM, eWater Limited Board Chair, on the National Water Initiative.   Greg examines the history of water reform in Australia, and how eWater has played a critical role in water management and reforms through the establishment of the National Hydrological Modelling Platform together with our leading software-based hydrological modelling tools and services. Strengthening mechanisms for accountability and enhancing global cooperation will be crucial as we venture beyond the conference. How can each sector contribute to these goals, ensuring that water security and climate resilience are achievable for all?

Ouch !! How the truth always hurts- but as usual only the poor people suffer. The 1% GDP contribution is probably generated by the bottled water fraternity, and the fact that the industry get away with dumping "waste" (when do we get rid of that term too?) into our aquatic environment "UNTREATED" for free?? 60+% of our planet is water so the economics of supply and demand are not applicable, Humans are 60+% water - same. Our very survival depends on it, yet without any investment the market expects a high ROI?? Only now they are creating the illusion of shortages so they can increase the price. Blaming Drought and Flooding disasters (another contributor to the 1% GDP) on global warming, not on the greed instead of need mindset of "Shareholder" participation of WEF, UN, and CO.
