Lessons on being a dependable surgeon Lessons learned I got called into the operating theatre last week for a surgical complication encountered by a colleague. Lesson 1: Know when to call for help. Knowing when to call for help is crucial in surgical practice. Facing complications is a part of the learning process, and it's important to embrace them as opportunities for growth and gaining valuable insights. It's better to seek assistance when needed rather than feeling ashamed, as resolving complications is a fundamental part of becoming a skilled surgeon. Lesson 2: You must know how to overcome a complication. Surgeons need to have the knowledge and skills to effectively address and resolve complications that may arise during procedures. Being prepared to handle these challenges is vital in providing the best possible care to patients. Lesson 3: Always be humble and be a good team player. Maintaining humility and approachability is important in the medical field, as you never know when you might need help or be called upon to assist. Being a supportive and collaborative team member benefits both you and your colleagues. Lesson 4: Accountability is vital. Taking responsibility for your actions and decisions, particularly when complications or errors occur, not only demonstrates integrity but also garners the respect and trust of patients and your healthcare team. Honesty and accountability are essential qualities for a dependable surgeon. #orlsurgeon #lifeofasurgeon #headandnecksurgeon #doctors

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬. Young ortho and spine reps... You will be told you are worth your relationships. "It's all about relationships" they'll tell you. They are wrong. Your value? It's in the ability to MAKE relationships. I don't mean with the instrument tech. Or the scrub nurse. Nope. 𝐈 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬. And if you can talk to Decision-makers like surgeons... You can talk to any Decision-maker. Don't let anyone tell you "it's only about the "business you can bring". 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮. #sales #medicaldevices

What do you do after a surgeon disassociates with the hospital? Often, surgeons have instruments and/or surgical supply requirements unique to them so the hospital dutifully supplies what is requested. When they are no longer associated with the hospital, what happens to these instruments? Staff often just leave everything because they don’t want to discard perfectly good medical inventory. A valid point. Why not give them a chance at a new life? First: · Make sure they are no longer going to be ordered · Remove the PPC from all files. · Remove the inventory from the stockroom. · Contact Inventory Solutions Plus for free removal.
