We had the privilege of welcoming Philip Green, the Australian Ambassador to India, along with an esteemed delegation of Australian agri-tech experts. The discussions, enriched by the insights of leaders like ⁠Mr. Dinesh Pratap Singh, ⁠Honble Cabinet Minister U.P. Govt., Shri Surya Pratap Shahi, Mr. Anil Rajbhar, Mr. Manoj Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary, Mr. Venkat, and Mrs. Monika Garg, IAS, Agricultural Production Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, were invaluable. Their contributions centered around leveraging cutting-edge Australian technology to enhance agricultural productivity in India, reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers, and tackle the challenges posed by climate change. The National Endeavor for Enhancing Water Resource Management through Innovative Technology and Roadmap Alignment (#NEERMITRA) is a comprehensive initiative aimed at accelerating India's progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (#SDG6) targets on clean water and sanitation. The initiative focuses on identifying and prioritizing challenges related to water security in India and developing a technology roadmap to address these challenges. Thank you, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Dr. Preeti Banzal, and Dr. M. Mohanty, FNAAS for inviting ICARDA; International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas to the roundtable discussion. The NEERMITRA roundtable on water security in agriculture was an important step towards identifying and prioritizing the most pressing challenges faced by the sector and guiding the development of a targeted science, technology and innovation (STI) roadmap. We look forward to follow-up steps to help develop a national roadmap and sharing our novel innovations from the world over to serve the dryland farmers of India.
