Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) deeply affects the body, manifesting in various physical symptoms that mirror its psychological toll. Individuals with PTSD often experience heightened arousal, leading to increased heart rate, muscle tension, and exaggerated startle responses. Chronic stress can disrupt hormonal balance, contributing to sleep disturbances, headaches, and gastrointestinal issues. The immune system may weaken, making them more susceptible to illnesses. These physical manifestations underscore the interconnectedness of mind and body in trauma, highlighting the importance of holistic modalities such as BSR that address both psychological and physiological aspects of PTSD.

This is what the 4th phase of ptg is all about....STORY. June is PTSD Awareness Month - but PTSD is not our story. Last year, Congress designated June 13th as the first ever Posttraumatic Growth Day, which is a huge step toward shifting HOW we talk about our trauma and our struggles. We are not what happened to us. We are not our mistakes. We are not a diagnosis. We will not be diminished. We are the authors of our own stories, and we will choose how we live them. Have you ever seen someone sleeping rough acting unusually or even aggressively? In most cases, this can be traced back to one cause: trauma While it’s easy to judge people for this behaviour, it’s important to be compassionate and think about how they got there. This PTSD awareness day, stand with people sleeping rough as they recover from their journey home. #PTSDawarenessmonth
