We’re boosting our creative diversity commitments. Following a review by the Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity, we’ve launched new, ambitious commitments to ensure that the stories told on-air authentically reflect audiences across the UK. This includes raising representation targets for TV production teams across ethnicity, disability, and socio-economic diversity from 20% to 25% across all production roles. We’re also investing a minimum of £80 million annually in content that meets our creative diversity criteria for TV and Radio. Crucially, this investment will focus on aligning diverse on-air storytelling with stronger off-air representation in senior production roles and leadership within production companies. That’s not all, we’ve also published new Inclusive Production Principles to foster an inclusive culture on each and every production. I'm proud to share a sample of my recent work – an audio described trailer for #Shogun, airing on FX. This project has reinforced how crucial it is to make all media, especially trailers, accessible to everyone. A big thank you to Madeline Baugh of XTRACKS for making this possible! While the FCC has made great strides in making TV programs more accessible, trailers and commercials are often left out. Trailers are crucial—they spark excitement, provide a sneak peek into the storyline, and help viewers decide what to watch. Without features like audio descriptions, many people are excluded from this first glimpse into new content. Making trailers accessible doesn't just mean adding audio descriptions. It also means subtitles, sign language capability, and designing visual content with accessibility in mind. These steps can make a big difference, ensuring everyone can enjoy and engage with media equally. Every trailer can be accessible and inclusive. It's not just about meeting standards; it's about making entertainment better for everyone! #Accessibility #AudioDescription #InclusiveMedia #AccessibleTrailers #DiversityInMedia #inclusion #trailers #narration #accessibilitymatters

🌍 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐚𝐲: 𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 🎭 As stage managers, we have a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment through our work in the theater industry. This Earth Day, let's reflect on how we can incorporate eco-friendly practices into our productions and inspire others to do the same. Here are a few ways stage managers can honor Earth Day: 1. 📝 Go digital with scripts and paperwork, reducing paper waste and saving trees. 2. 💡 Encourage the use of energy-efficient lighting and electronics in our theaters. 3. 🗑️ Implement comprehensive recycling programs for sets, costumes, and other production materials. 4. 🍴Eliminate single-use water bottles and eating utensils. 5. 🌿 Incorporate sustainable and eco-friendly materials in set construction and prop choices. As leaders in the theater community, we have the power to set an example and inspire change. Let's use our creativity and problem-solving skills to find innovative ways to make our productions more environmentally friendly. This Earth Day, I challenge my fellow stage managers to commit to at least one eco-friendly practice in their next production. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that the magic of theater continues to thrive for generations to come. 🌸 #EarthDay #SustainableTheater #EcoFriendlyProductions #StageManagers #TheaterCommunity
