Wow - what a first year it's been! As I relive and reflect upon this beautiful moment and the countless I've experienced since, the two words that come to mind are "joy" and "honor." - It is truly a joy to come to work each day where our main objective is to give that joy to the child in front of us ... and oh do they give it right back! - It is the honor of my lifetime to serve and represent the men and women who comprise this organization. Each day, you provide the type of therapy I've always dreamt of where science and service become one. As the calendar turns to "Year 2", here are my 4 greatest lessons through our first 4 seasons of service: 1) Live out your values in every moment, conversation, interaction, and decision - for it will shape your culture and destiny. Let your words and actions be one. 2) Lead courageously and with humility. In our greatest challenges lay the seeds to the greatest opportunities and lessons. 3) Invite others to bring their own gifts and talents! Allow exceptional people to bring their own exceptional ideas - there is room for EVERYONE at the table! 4) Give with your whole heart without ever counting the cost. You will always receive immeasurably more. Lumen Team - Year 2 looks exceptionally bright - and that is a reflection of all of you. #ShineBrightly

As facilitators, have you ever wondered how much emotions should we actually bring into our facilitation sessions? How does the mood of others affect the way we facilitate? In celebration of FNS's 20th anniversary, me and Angeline Chng will be doing a learning session on Emotional Agility in Process Facilitation. In this 3-hour learning session, we'll be borrowing concepts from Newfield Ontological Coaching to explore the undervalued role of emotions and how it can shape your facilitation presence & effectiveness. We'll also explore ways which we can be more intentional with how we are feeling amidst the intense focus on processes. No promises that you will feel better after this but we promise you'll have more "choices" thereafter.
FNS CoP: 3 August 2024 Saturday 9:00am to 12:30pm Exploring Emotional Agility in Facilitation- a FNS 20th Anniversary event. Register here: https://lnkd.in/g4UPV5kW

It a study undertaken at the University of Cincinnati it was concluded that: The current data indicates an association of a decreased incidence of concussion among football players during the competitive seasons where vision training was performed as part of the preseason training. We suggest that better field awareness gained from vision training may assist in preparatory awareness to avoid concussion causing injuries. Future large scale clinical trials are warranted to confirm the effects noted in this preliminary report. You can read the study here: https://lnkd.in/e4zizyjz

Join us on June 28 for the next Education Journal Club, “Grey Matter Mysteries: Unveiling Neuroanatomy Through Cadaver Instruction.” Cadaver dissection is one of the highest-rated days of paramedic school for those programs lucky enough to have access to a cadaver lab. However, a fun experience does not always equate to student learning. Join us as we review “A Know-Brainer: The Power of Cadaver-Based Instruction to Teach Clinical Neuroanatomy” and ask whether cadaver dissections help improve learning. https://ow.ly/7yKU50SlAM2
