With Manta, you don’t have to worry about juggling different sample types one by one. 💯 It’s built to handle multiple types simultaneously, saving time and keeping things running smoothly so you can focus on the results, not the process. 🎯 📌Know more here: https://lnkd.in/gwpsB7Hp #dnaextraction #labautomation #molecularbiology #biotech #genomics #sampleprocessing #biotechnology

To support a growing global population, we need to rethink food production and reduce waste. Researchers are exploring the vast protein space in our MGnify microbiome data resource to identify enzymes that can be used to upcycle animal by-products such as bone to make protein powder for animal and human consumption. Dive deeper into what the process entails and the wide range of expertise required to get a product from conception to the market. https://lnkd.in/euVRrgz3 #WorldOceanDay #bioinformatics #metagenomics #microbiome #circulareconomy This work is part of the BlueRemediomics project. Not going to lie, when I first started writing this case study, the idea of upcycling animal bones didn't sit quite right with me. After speaking to our scientists and to a few of my friends who take collagen supplements, I started to warm to it. Ideally we would all reduce the amount of animal products we consume, but even so, I think there's still value in initiatives such as this one. After all, if it means we can extract more nutrients from our food and reduce the huge amount of waste coming from our food production systems, maybe it's worth a shot. Curious to hear your thoughts on this, or any other unusual food-related science you might be aware of. #bioinformatics #bigdata #biotech #scicomm

This is one of my favorite case studies of our for a few reasons: first, it showcases the power of recent model architectures for protein design in a single Round (R1) of wet lab testing. Our client took our AI-based enzyme designs to their lab, and got a 3x improvement in productivity with at least a +10C increase in thermostability. I’m not saying everyone is going to get 3x improvement from AI in every scenario, but we’re at the point of at least doing as well as rational design methods in much less time. Second, the potential of enzymes is barely tapped, and they have the ability to impact our lives in many areas, like manufacturing, agriculture, the environment, and more. With all the AI for drug development going on, it feels like we’re going to cure cancer but, by the time we do, the Earth with be too hot and short on resources to sustain us! Enzymes, like the one in this project, can change some of that. The message from this study: if you’re not leveraging bio-AI models, you’re potentially missing out on some huge advantages. #enzymes #proteinengineering #biotech #ai #techbio #syntheticbiology #sustainability #synbio #pllms
We loved working with our client on this - we’re always excited to contribute toward a more sustainable future. Results in our first round impressed both us and our client, leaving us happy and awaiting another challenge! Looking forward to taking our enzyme design work further. We’re fast approaching a world in which we could get the desired molecular properties in just a few rounds! And are thrilled to be a part of it. Reach out if wondering whether your enzyme development could benefit from bio-AI! #proteinengineering #enzymes #techbio #ai #syntheticbiology #pllms #synbio #biotech #proteins
