Supporting young people into Modern Apprenticeships and assisting businesses with training needs across Scotland.
I saw this image online last night and it's stuck with me. This image sums up how a lot of people feel about education often through no fault of their own! In my current role, more often than you'd think, I have conversations with people looking to do Modern Apprenticeships who say things like "school wasn't for me", "I didn't do well in school", "I'm not good at writing" "What if I fail?"... the list goes on. Modern Apprenticeships are different from school which is often what draws people to them; there's 1-1 support throughout, you learn on the job, you gain real, practical experience in an area which interests you and you can gain a qualification with no exams or tests! An apprenticeship is by no means an easy route but it might just be the right route and that's worth considering. Apprenticeships were never discussed with me as an option in school. The underlying message was that they were only for those interested in trades. Instead, I went to college to study Early Education and Childcare for a year then onto university to study Primary Education for 4 years. There were elements I enjoyed but I ended up desperate to get back to Early Years after I graduated! I now know an Apprenticeship would have been a wonderful option for me and for so many others I know. What about you? Did you complete an Apprenticeship? Did you go to college or university? Did you get a job straight from school? I'd love to know!

It's National Apprenticeship Awareness Week! 🎉 A perfect time to celebrate the positive impact that apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses and the wider community. This year's theme, "Skills for Life", emphasises the importance of developing future-ready skills through apprenticeships. ✏️ Did you know that 752,150 people participated in an apprenticeship in England during the 2022/2023 academic year? According to government figures released in 2023, under-19’s made up just over a quarter (28%) of new apprenticeship starts, and 48% were aged 25 and over! These numbers show that apprenticeships are a valuable opportunity for individuals of all ages to gain the skills needed for rewarding careers. At Tiro, we're excited to announce that our next cohort of Degree learners is starting in just 3 weeks, and it's our biggest one yet! If you haven't enrolled yet, there are limited spaces left, so get in touch. 🎓 Let's continue to support apprenticeships and the development of future-ready skills! #NationalApprenticeshipAwarenessWeek #SkillsForLife

Registered Apprenticeship came into being in 1937 with FDR and the New Deal. Apprenticeships are as old as time. A novice learning from a master how to accomplish tasks. Parents teach us how to walk, talk and hold utensils so we can eat with something other than our hands. Registered Apprenticeship is a novice learning from a master how to learn and accomplish tasks to teach us an occupation. Setting us on a path of success and careers that allow us to reach for other dreams. It also gives a Federal Certificate of Completion which is portable throughout the U.S. and many other countries. The world is moving at such a fast pace these days that Registered Apprenticeships are becoming a more common-sense answer for many people. It should be an acceptable alternative to traditional college. Registered Apprenticeships include an educational component which can lead to a college degree in the future while the apprentice makes money to pay bills and other necessities. Please let me know if you want to know more.
