Just a glimpse of our the organisers of the GASi 7th Annual Summer School, Marit Joffe and Alice Mulasso. The summer school consisted of a diverse and international community of group analysts and students who gathered in Turin, Italy. 110 participants from 22 countries. This transitional community that formed over the 5 intensive days was a container for complex emotions that cared for the future and held generations together. With more memories to follow via our social media, GASi wants to extend great thanks to the co-organisers for their tireless work and we hope that they can revel in the fruits of their labour for the months to come! If you were at the summer school, leave your thoughts below! #groupanalysis #grouptherapy

Reflecting on last week and the time spent at the 1st African Transport Research Conference (ATRC) for GoMetro. With the amount of IQ, experience, skills and insight floating around, and subsequent interesting conversations, solutions, theories, good ideas, hypothetical conversations - I could not help but wonder: what is holding all of this together? And I believe the answer lies in the concept of "passion". The group of people that not just connects the dots, but also holds the dots together and obsess over the dots in the middle of the night, both at ATRC but also in a team or business do so with *passion* and this deserves special mention. Passion exponentially multiplies skills, output, value, and impact.

[ 🏆 Awards & Honors] Author of the comic strip "The Miner from Italy", Irène Portas Vázquez is laureate of the "Conter et Rencontrer les Sciences" competition, organised by the AUF Western Europe to reward the best French-language popular science content produced by young researchers. “Amongst the countless Italian migrants living in the Minett in the first half of the twentieth century, some got involved in underground communist networks. Through secret meetings, clandestine propaganda and subversive actions, they attempted to overthrow a system deemed pernicious for the worker of the Minett. How far did the boundaries of legality extend in the Minett? How were these boundaries transgressed and by whom?” Luigi's story, main character of in the comic strip, might hold some answers to these questions... 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQpAxfyF "The Miner from Italy" is part of the Minett Stories online exhibition produced by the Remixing Industrial Pasts team. As energy demand increases, our need to find viable solutions to incorporate new forms of energy into our systems becomes more critical. Hydrogen can help us decarbonize energy systems while we expand our energy supply. Take a look at these upcoming technical sessions as part of GSA Connect 2024 (22-25 September, 2024) chaired by Bureau of Economic Geology Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin Research Assistant Professor Nur Schuba T16: The Role of Salt Formations in the Energy Transition T17: Geological Perspectives on Harnessing Hydrogen - From Formation to Storage 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
Hello! We have two exciting topical sessions at the upcoming Geological Society of America (GSA) Connects 2024 Annual Meeting which will take place on 22-25 September in Anaheim, California. These sessions are: - T16. The Role of Salt Formations in the Energy Transition: Presentations will cover geomechanics, geochemistry, and operational considerations for cleaner energy solutions (including compressed air energy storage, hydrogen storage, geological repositories, and geothermal energy, as well as mineral exploration). - T17. Geological Perspectives on Harnessing Hydrogen - From Formation to Storage: Presentations will explore processes leading to formation and trapping of natural hydrogen, criteria for selecting storage sites, and the geosciences' role in ensuring safe and effective hydrogen storage solutions. If you are working on these topics, we would love to hear from you. Abstracts can be submitted here: https://lnkd.in/gkFzUNZz Submission deadline is June 18th. Honorary Vice-Consul of Brazil in Minneapolis | Nonprofit Board Director | Volunteer & International Student Manager I Healthcare Professional & Marketer | Passionate about projects, community, and people.
I felt so honored to be able to collaborate in this meaningful career webinar to help international college students in Minnesota. In partnership with colleague Jane Sitter, MA, we brought incredible panelists, who are very dear to me, to share advice. More than 360 students registered, 160 attended, and we already have 110 views on YouTube. I have received incredibly positive feedback from international students, who valued the tips shared by Michelle Thom, EdD, Ana Carolina Rodriguez, and Alana Butler. After I shared the hardships of my professional trajectory as an immigrant in the U.S. and spoke about the need to have G.R.I.T (Be Genuine, Be Resilient, Be Intentional, Be Target-driven), many students connected with me to say how touched they felt. It is not easy to succeed in our careers outside of our home countries. We have to reinvent ourselves many times, fall, and stand up, again and again. We face so many closed doors. We are filtered out by algorithms and the normal adrenaline during an interview escalates to the max when English is not our first language. This career journey can be even harder for international college students. They face so many legislative challenges and barriers of all kinds to find work, post-graduate training (OPT), or a simple internship outside of the campus bubbles to which they tend to be confined not by choice. As Michelle Thom, EdD said, international employees have so many transferable skills: team building, adaptability/agility, problem-solving, leadership (self-sufficiency, independence = decision-making), networking, cultural competence, communication skills, bilingualism, and more. Having an international student or employee as part of the team can bring: Increased appreciation for others’ perspectives More ideas/more creativity Improved and active listening Increased empathy Increased adaptability and agility A more inclusive culture If you work for an organization that welcomes international students as interns, trainees (OPT), or employees, please reach out to me. If you have never had an international student as an intern due to fear of bureaucracies and costs, fear not - it is super easy, it doesn't require visa sponsorship, and the school handles everything. It will be wonderful to help connect you with incredible global young talent here in Minnesota!
Last month, over 160 international students attended a virtual webinar to gain important insights into post-graduate careers as part of our International Student program. Guest speakers from the Minnesota Department of Human Resources, Takeda Talent Acquisition, and the University of Minnesota shared many important practical pieces of advice for navigating the internship and job recruitment journey. Special thanks to Jane Sitter, MA, University of Minnesota International Careers Consultant for her support on this event. A must learn programme
2024 has begun and the next competence development program with Danida Fellowship Centre, “Data and digital technology as enablers for environmentally sustainable societies" has already begun with the online Kick-off 🎉 The countries have been confirmed and we are thrilled to welcome top civil servants from Brazil, Ghana, China, India, Colombia and Vietnam on to the program 🌍 We have started to meet up with our partners to plan the program taking place in March in Denmark. Some weeks ago, we visited Statistics Denmark (Danmarks Statistik) Denmark were Jesper Ellemose, Agnes Tassy and Anne Vibeke Jacobsen welcomed us to plan a whole Competence Development Day at their Authority. As part of the visit they got to hear about the research in the team presented by Founder of Tech4Civ, Head of Section and PhD-Student Anja Mie Weile

How do you ensure that the rapid digital transformation that we are undergoing is leading to more inclusive, democratic and open organisations and societies? Tech4Civ at DTU has a brilliant answer to that question: by empowering public servants from all over the world to create change in their own organisations and by making sure to also look at the social aspects of technological development. You can follow their LinkedIn page below for more info. Anja Mie Weile Tanja Vilhof

"Examples from the Annual Migration Conference revealed that fundamental divisions exist, especially between EU institutions and migration experts, when it comes to interpreting problems and solutions for migration." Check out the next Natolin Academy of Migration Nest Op-Ed of 2024, authored by our student Louise Abildgaard, entitled 'To find solutions we must understand the problem. Reflections from Natolin’s Annual Migration Conference'. The Op-Ed features as part of Natolin Blog, a longstanding project overseen by the College of Europe in Natolin. It is available to access here: https://shorturl.at/asEXY
