#hsmtc Our Director, Dr. Miklós Szócska delivered a keynote speech on "Treatment and Innovation: What’s Holding Back the New Age in CV Care?" at the High-Level Ministerial Conference on Cardiovascular Health, which was held today, on the 4th of July in Budapest. He examined the current bottlenecks in cardiovascular disease (CVD) research and how to overcome them. All EU countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway participated in this event. ➡️ Semmelweis University Health Services Management Training Centre (HSMTC) is a leading expert in the data-driven paradigm shift in healthcare, highlighted by initiatives such as launching a new Master's program in Health Data Science, starting in the autumn semester of 2024. By participating in several international projects for about 2 decades, our institute ensures that it remains at the forefront of the latest innovative solutions in healthcare. ➡️ In line with the theme of cardiovascular health, the Director presented the EU Interreg project DIGI4Care Project, with HSMTC as the lead partner. The project aims to redefine patient pathways by integrating digital and AI solutions, focusing on feasibility, benefits, and implementation strategies. It is piloting digital solutions for common diseases such as CVD, diabetes, and cognitive disorders, and developing a comprehensive digital framework to enable healthcare professionals to use the technologies effectively. ➡️ Aligning with EU priorities, this conference coincides with the handover of the Hungarian EU Presidency from Belgium. The Hungarian Presidency, running from 1 July to the end of 2024, has announced cardiovascular health as a flagship initiative. The Danube Private University Austria (DPU) and the University of Sydney, Australia have recently signed a research collaboration agreement underscoring willingness for a long-term partnership between the two institutions. The University of Sydney has invited the DPU to engage in a research collaboration on the topic "Enhancing and Advancing CBCT Imaging". Ass. Prof. Dr. Sepideh Hatamikia will lead this collaboration. The aim of the collaboration is to further develop CBCT imaging, with a particular focus on the development and evaluation of appropriate image quality metrics for CBCT imaging. This new co-operation showcases the ongoing growth of the DPU’s international scientific research network and its commitment to improving patient diagnostics and healthcare. Today, Wednesday 3rd of July, our consortium celebrates a Workshop aimed to refining the topic of ERA4Health Pilot Call on Investigator-Initiated Clinical Studies (IICS). This Partnership brings the opportunity to increase European transnational collaborative research funding by creating a funding body for joint programming in priority areas addressing European public health needs. Multinational IICS play a critical role in addressing societal issues often overlooked by industry players, emphasizing their high societal value. However, despite their significance, these studies often face challenges due to the absence of optimal funding mechanisms.    To address this issue, the ERA4Health partnership has developed a framework and is planning to launch its first IICS-dedicated call by November of this year. This workshop aims to refining the call topic and discussing specific issues with experts and funding agencies to encourage and enable transnational collaboration between clinical/public health research. UZH Vice President Elisabeth Stark looks back at at a successful General Assembly of the Una Europa European university alliance and emphasizes the boost given to One Health: https://lnkd.in/dQSz9Gqg "The alliance enables us to forge close partnerships and collaborations with 10 like-minded universities across Europe. This is very important for us because Switzerland is not a part of the European Union, and we’re currently not an equal partner in the EU’s research programs either," she says. "The theme of the event focused on the idea of togetherness and unity that we’re pursuing in our research and visions together with Una Europa. We all share the same planet, and many of UZH’s research focuses explicitly address this. The theme was of course also a nod to the topic of One Health, which was at the heart of this General Assembly and is one of UZH’s strategic priorities.
