Australian Fashion Week is in full swing and it’s been a whirlwind of emotions, challenges and successes so far.
After two 20 hour days back to back, I’m chilling at home reflecting and collecting my thoughts going into the second half of the week. My key takeaways from days 1 and 2 are;
• Everyone is crazy talented, but never underestimate what you bring to the table.
• A bright and positive attitude can and will get you places talent and skill alone won’t.
• Opportunity is great, but not all of them need your full attention and energy. You will burn out physically and emotionally.
• A few bad photos don’t define you. Pick up, learn and move on.
• Be grounded enough to accept something isn’t working and be smart enough to do something about it.
• Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Most of the time people are bloody lovely and love to chat.
• Stick your neck out and shoot your shot. If you don’t try, you’ll never know.
• Be hungry to keep learning. Walk away everyday with something to work on.
• Treat digital photography like film. Take that extra second to compose yourself. Take that extra second to check your settings. Pose your models exactly how you envisioned them looking. No one is really in a rush, it’s just you. You’re the one that’s rushing. And rushed photography looks rushed.
• Be kind to yourself. If you’re improving every day, you’re already doing yourself proud. If you had a bad day, find the lessons in it and grow.
Lastly, the fashion industry is super difficult to break into with the wrong mindset. But it’s an open revolving door with the right one.

Summer reads.
I recently experienced firsthand in Milan how culture can be interpreted and promoted through a series of brand activations. Miu Miu's interest in exploring femininity and the role of women in contemporary society was initially promoted through a series of short films.
This was followed by collaborations with multidisciplinary artists during fashion shows, the launch of the Literary Club titled "Writing Life" during the recent Salone del Mobile, and now, just a few days ago, with "Summer Reads."
This initiative is currently taking place in selected cities worldwide: Milan, Paris, London, New York, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Tokyo.
In preparation for the summer season, visitors are gifted with copies of two out of three seminal texts: Alba De Céspedes’ "Forbidden Notebook," Sibilla Aleramo’s "A Woman," and Jane Austen’s "Persuasion."
🙌 What’s your take?

The UNIQLO brand: which 3 things immediately come to your mind?
For us: “practical”, “down-to-earth” & “consistent quality”. Especially style and quality that stays dependable — something that’s not so easy to find in today’s market.
The key to doing a photoshoot for a dailywear global brand like UNIQLO, which speaks the message of “consistency” through products as well as visual language in marketing, is to accurately translate and convey their brand DNA in the local context. So when AIMC did UNIQLO’s Summer LifeWear Collection, special care was taken to ensure photography was their signature clean, minimalist style, and photo subjects reflect everyday life in Hong Kong.
Consistency in quality is what makes a brand great - something AIMC also takes to heart (and practice) very seriously.

I'm here to transform how entrepreneurs master their script and own their stage during those crucial 2 to 3-minute public speaking moments at network events.
I struggled at school a lot.
There were several times when my parents were called in by my teacher because of my poor results.😞😒😕. How embarrassing that was!!!
All the academic subjects were extremely boring to the core, but it was just something I had to do because, well, that's what you do when you're growing up, right?
Growing up, I always dreamed of being a Fashion Designer.
My passion for fashion started when I was a teenager.
One of my maternal cousins owned a clothing retail shop in Singapore, and his work really inspired me. I even took up a course in fashion design at 'Art Friend' located at Bras Basah Complex in Singapore.
Every year before Chinese New Year, I would make sketches for my mother.
I would then head down to People's Park Complex to buy fabric and then go to the tailor to have the outfits custom-made for her.
I did this for about three years, and seeing my mother wear my designs on Chinese New Year filled me with pride and joy.
But you know, there's this saying in Chinese culture about "3 minutes passion," meaning passion only lasts for a short while.
And looking back, I've realised that a lot of things I've been passionate about only lasted about three years.
Like, I was really into learning the Japanese language once and signed up for a course, but I stopped going after three months.
The same thing happened with designing clothes for my mother.
I still love fashion, but I'm not designing anymore.
It's strange how many things I've been interested in only lasted three years.
I wonder if it has something to do with my genes or something, but I really don't know.
But you know what's interesting?
It feels like the universe is testing me, seeing which passion truly belongs to me.
Looking back, I wonder: do our past passions show us our real path? Maybe it's all part of a plan, guiding us to where we're meant to be.
Even my short-lived interests, like learning Japanese, remind me of the journey. I signed up for lessons, but after three months, I moved on.
The same happened with designing clothes for my mother.
As I navigate through the chapters of my life, I can't help but wonder what lies ahead.
The only thing that lasted more than 3 years is my love for portrait photography.
Will my love for portrait photography continue to stand the test of time?
With my camera and curiosity, I'm ready for whatever comes next.
Who knows what's ahead?
But one thing's for sure – I'll be there, capturing it all, as I discover the faces waiting to be captured through my lens.
With True Elegance,
Your Introvert Fairy Godmother
