Exciting News! In the oil and gas industry, I'm thrilled to share that Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad Offshore ASA Offshore has secured contract extensions with Subsea7 for two of its subsea construction support vessels (CSVs) – Normand Subsea and Normand Energy. Subsea7 has exercised the 2025 optional charter period for the Normand Subsea, making the contract firm until December 31, 2025. The Normand Subsea, a versatile 113-meter-long IMR vessel built in 2009 with VS 471 design, has been on contract with Subsea7 since 2009 and can accommodate up to 90 people. Additionally, Subsea7 has exercised all remaining option periods for the charter of the Normand Energy, extending the contract until March 31, 2026. The Normand Energy is a large construction vessel, 130 meters long, built in 2007 with VS 4220 design. It features a 250-ton active heave compensated crane, a 2000m² working deck, and can accommodate up to 100 people. This vessel will continue to support subsea operations in West Africa. 📢Offshore News 🌍 QatarEnergy Embarks on Monumental $6 Billion Expansion of Al-Shaheen Field, Set to Boost Oil Production by 100,000 BPD 🛢 In a strategic move, the company has awarded four pivotal Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contracts, collectively worth over six billion dollars, for the expansion of the offshore Al-Shaheen field - Qatar's largest oil field. This landmark award is integral to Project Ru’ya ("vision" in Arabic), representing the third development phase of Al-Shaheen since its operation commenced in July 2017 by North Oil Company Qatar, a joint venture between QatarEnergy (70%) and TotalEnergies (30%). Project Ru’ya, a visionary initiative set to develop more than 550 million barrels of oil, is scheduled over five years, with the first oil production anticipated in 2027. The scope of Project Ru’ya is vast and transformative. Gimi FLNG arrived at GTA FLNG project Gimi FLNG vessel that is a core component of the BP-operated Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) LNG project has arrived at its final destination on the Mauritania and Senegal maritime border. The GTA Phase 1 project will produce gas from #reservoirs in deep water, approximately 120-Km offshore, through a #subsea system to a #FPSO unit, which will initially process the gas, removing heavier #hydrocarbon components, BP said, adding that the #gas will then be transported by #pipeline to the Gimi FLNG vessel at the GTA Hub where it will be cryogenically cooled in the vessel’s four liquefaction trains and stored before transfer to LNG carriers. The 2.5 MMT/Y Golar LNG-operated Gimi FLNG vessel set sail from #Singapore in November 2023, travelling 9000 nautical miles from Seatrium shipyard to the site, according to the Global LNG Database® (1). Gimi FLNG to be utilized for the FLNG export project for 20 years under a Lease and Operate Agreement (LOA) between Golar LNG and the project’s operator BP. Keppel Shipyard Ltd., Singapore (Seatrium)'s scope of work was the conversion of the moss LNG carrier into the Gimi FLNG vessel was include the #design, detailed #engineering, and #procurement of the #marine systems as well as conversion-related #construction services. Qatar's LNG Expansion Project Set to Boost Production by 85% by 2030. Doha, Qatar: QatarEnergy has announced its latest venture, the "North Field West" project, aimed at expanding Qatar's LNG production capacity to 142 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) by the end of the decade, marking an impressive 85% increase from current levels. During a press conference yesterday, H E Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, revealed that extensive drilling and testing have unveiled promising prospects in Qatar's North Field, particularly towards the west, facilitating the development of a new LNG production project in Ras Laffan. "These results are monumental and will propel Qatar's gas industry to unprecedented heights. They pave the way for the initiation of a new LNG project from the North Field's western sector, with a production capacity of approximately 16 mtpa," stated Al Kaabi. "With the completion of this project, Qatar's total LNG production is poised to reach about 142 mtpa, signifying an impressive 85% surge from current levels. Additionally, Qatar's total hydrocarbon production will surpass 7.25 million barrels of oil equivalent per day," he added. QatarEnergy will promptly commence basic engineering works for the North Field West project to ensure adherence to the approved schedule. "QatarEnergy's diligent efforts in evaluating the productivity of the North Field's western region have borne fruit. Technical tests of appraisal wells have confirmed the extension of productive layers, unlocking significant additional gas quantities," Al Kaabi affirmed. He also revealed substantial additional gas reserves in the North Field, estimated at 240 trillion cubic feet, elevating Qatar's gas reserves to over 2,000 trillion cubic feet, along with increased condensates reserves and other valuable resources. Al Kaabi expressed gratitude to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for his guidance and support, emphasizing Qatar's commitment to advancing its energy sector.
