Certainly yes, it depends on many factors: what it was taught for and how it was trained to reach its goals. 🏚 In this video AI-powered utilises a #LLM model, which generates multiple instructions with different confidence scores. In this example, a kitchen #robot with low contest awareness is asked to put a bowl in the microwave. The robot is confused because there are two bowls on the table: a metal one and a plastic one. The confused robot double checks this question with a human and it saves the kitchen from explosion. Imagine if there was only a metal bowl and the robot would not think twice. 💡 In our #article we discussed this and some other problems, which AI can cause and made some implications on how to deal with them. Our CEO Amy Webb talks with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung about AI, and specifically Europe’s opportunities in the space. Of course a fantastic read, but a teaser with some of the main points below: The competition in the AI race is still wide open, with major investments and efforts happening not just in the US and China, but also in the UAE and other parts of the world. Germany's risk-averse culture and lack of strategic risk-taking is hindering its ability to fully capitalize on AI opportunities, especially in key industries like automotive and pharmaceuticals. Regulatory approaches like the "sandbox" model used in Abu Dhabi, which allows testing and iterating on regulations, could be a better approach than rigid, prescriptive rules. Emerging technologies like quantum computing, when combined with AI, could help address the growing computational demands and environmental impact of AI systems. https://lnkd.in/eE8sV8nN

Sam #Altman, CEO of #OpenAI, should not only plan his own #AI chip, but entire fabs. Now he is looking for finishers or cooperation in South #Korea. Previously, it was already said that he was traveling in the Middle East, Arab donors are said to have been the target, among other things. AI, i.e. artificial intelligence, is on everyone's lips. Whether justified or not - it triggers a boom from which many want to benefit. After the drama about #OpenAI, #Microsoft and the person Sam Altman recently, they are now making speeches with new plans. Not only should your own AI chips be planned, but rather you would also want to produce the whole thing in your own fabs, at least in part. A meeting with industry giants in South Korea is to take place this week, previously it was said that the feelers had been extended towards #TSMC. https://lnkd.in/dTF-EFY7

Another month, another tech column in manager magazin. AI is still booming: GPT4o is pretty mind blowing and after publishing quarterly earnings, Nvidia is now worth $2.7tn (🤯) - more than Meta, Tesla, Netflix and IBM taken together and more than the entire DAX 40 (😪). There is little doubt that some AI companies are overvalued and will have to face a correction in valuations at some point. At the same time ✨ value creation is real ✨ especially at the hardware/infrastructure and foundation model layers, where winners are now emerging. As the application layer is still much more up for grabs, this is where we may see the sharpest valuation corrections in the future. Right now, users often hop back and forth between different tools, but if done right, e.g. through deep integration and vertical process understanding, applications also present a huge untapped opportunity for value capture. Whether Nvidia can defend their quasi-monopolistic market position (their market share in training is estimated to be over 80% 🤨) in the long run remains to be seen - competition never sleeps (hello Apple, Microsoft, Intel Corporation Groq, Recogni... many more) and especially the much more dynamic inference market will require significant innovation. Despite the current hype, AI will be the defining technological force of this century. Like many new technologies, we probably overestimate the amount of change we will experience in the short term yet underestimate the long-term transformative power.
