Are You Wondering How Last Night’s Presidential Debate Might Impact Your Retirement Portfolio? It's interesting to see how our economy stays strong despite the complex mix of economics and politics. For YOU, this means maintaining a long-term perspective and not overreacting to political events. Diversification, a well-thought-out investment strategy, and staying informed about both economic fundamentals and political developments are key to navigating market uncertainties. I often show this graph to clients worried about political influences on the economy. The graph shows the growth of $1 invested in the S&P 500 since 1926, which would be worth about $10,000 today. A MORE IMPORTANT question, how are you preparing for potential upcoming changes in tax rates?

Congratulations, and thank you, to Investment & Pensions Europe (IPE) for using your platform to highlight the growing importance of investing into #EmergingMarkets as theme for sophisticated investors. It can be challenging to push against the consensus of investor preferences for Developed Markets, so the more voices to add to this topic, the better. The biggest concern by investors is their perception of risk versus the opportunity. But as this article explores, there are ways to break this down and highlights some of the structural protections in place for investors. Time to look again, perhaps? 🔎 ImpactA Global Legal & General Capital Victoria Miles, Isabella da Costa Mendes, Susan Ward, Audrey Caulliez-Louis, Hannah Gore-Randall https://lnkd.in/eURydVgf

The US Securities and Exchange Commission continues to charge investment advisers with violations of the “pay-to-play” rule even where there is no intent to influence a state or local pension investment. With the 2024 election season in full swing, it is particularly important for investment advisers to take steps to comply with this highly technical rule that has a strict liability standard. Today Steven Fine and Charles Hall delivered an insightful Lunch & Learn to our employees on the topic of 'Reinvigorating the UK Equity Markets'. Key topics: ➔ The state of UK public markets They explained to our attendees the challenges and opportunities for reinvigorating UK public markets, highlighting the public good they provide and the need for more demand-side incentives and regulatory reforms. ➔ The role of the press and the media They discussed the importance of raising awareness and educating the press and the media about the benefits of public markets and the risks of losing key companies to private or overseas investors. ➔ The impact of interest rates and pensions They analysed how low interest rates have favoured private equity and debt over public equity and how UK pension schemes have been underperforming and underinvesting in UK equities. They suggested some policy changes to reverse these trends and foster domestic growth. ➔ The outlook for IPOs and private equity exits They expressed some optimism about the cyclical uptick in UK equities and the potential for more IPOs and private equity exits, especially in the technology sector. They also warned about the danger of complacency and the need for faster and bolder actions from the government and regulators. Some great insights and engaging discussions - yet another successful Lunch & Learn! #lunchandlearn #peelhunt #investmentbank #ukequitymarkets
