We called this moment in some detail in the book, minus the MK Party factor which was not in the picture, so very proud of that. It is a sobering moment, Prof. We are now down to one of two scenarios: The Good - ANC pivots to the centre with a coalition to protect the constitution and bring about reform and growth - and the Bad - the ANC pivots to the populist left with economic chaos and constitutional delinquency. There is also another new scenario - Chaos as MK Party goes for broke and tries to overturn the entire order
Our scenarios in this book accurately called this groundbreaking South African election, right to every granular detail. The only "black swan" we did not anticipate was the birth and phenomenonal rise of the MK Party. Greg Mills Ray Hartley

The Trumpization of the Grand Old Party - PDF: https://lnkd.in/gvUPegSH Background: The purposes of this article are to (1) detail the extent to which the Republican Party personalized in the period from Donald Trump’s first becoming a presidential candidate through 2022 and the process by which it occurred, (2) suggest plausible explanatory factors, and (3) speculate as to possible consequences. Methods: The authors employ this special issue’s common conceptual framework and glean evidence from a broad accumulation of reportage and expert impressions from professional journalists. Results and conclusion: It is found that “Trumpization” invaded all aspects of the Grand Old Party, with #deinstitutionalization encompassing both de-routinization and value-displacement affecting all faces of the party: as organization, in elective office, and in the electorate. #GOP #RepublicanParty #Trump #politicalparties #electorate #America #president

They are leaders, yes, but also companions in the silent evolution of our Republic, bearing the weight of public expectations and the responsibility of steering the nation toward progress and unity. https://lnkd.in/ejmgPHcF
