The NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) HRC in Emergency and Acute Care will test, evaluate, and commercialise new healthcare technologies to increase the speed, scale, and improvements in urgent and emergency care in the community and hospitals. Led by Dr Tim Felton, the HRC brings together expertise from across MFT Research and Innovation and The University of Manchester with four key themes. 🚑 Theme 1: Community Care, Primary Care, and the Community-Secondary Care Interface – led by Professor Rick Body and Dr Kim Kirby. 🏥 Theme 2: Secondary Care – led by Dr Brendan McGrath and Professor WILLIAM NEWMAN. ❓ Theme 3: Understanding the Problem – led by Professor Evangelos Kontopantelis and Dr Alex Thompson. 💡 Theme 4: Evaluating the Solution – led by Professor Katherine Payne and Dr Matthew Parkes. Imagine a world where healthcare’s biggest problems intersect with the world’s best technology in a culture of innovation. That’s the goal of the Veale Initiative for Health Care Innovation at University Hospitals, established in 2023 through the support of a $10 million visionary gift from The Veale Foundation.   “With the Veale model, we will systematically identify complex problems and pilot solutions using the best technologies. If we see meaningful savings, improved patient outcomes or operational efficiency, and our caregivers find it useful, then we will scale across our system,” explained Brandon Cornuke, Executive Director of the Veale Initiative. “Backed with rigorous clinical studies, we’ll share our learnings with other health systems and ecosystem partners. In doing so, we’ll amplify our learning and, hopefully, help advance the healthcare industry. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲…👩⚕️🆘   In Europe there are around 3 doctors per 1000 patients on average. The healthcare sector is struggling to cope in giving an adequate service to everybody in need – and, after all, the right medical service is a human right. This problem is further amplified by strikes.   So, other than training more medical professionals – a long-term strategy which will likely only see results in a decade’s time – how can we create a short-term fix to this medical emergency? 🚨   Research by ESMT Berlin shows that shared medical appointments (SMAs) can improve patient satisfaction, learning, and medication compliance, without compromising follow-up rates or clinical outcomes.   The study was conducted by Nazlı Sönmez, alongside Kavitha Srinivasan and Rengaraj Venkatesh of Aravind Eye Hospital in India, Ryan W. Buell of Harvard Business School, and Kamalini Ramdas of London Business School.   The limited adoption of SMAs in the healthcare sector can be attributed to patient concerns regarding loss of privacy, which may impede open discussion of sensitive medical issues and dampen learning, satisfaction, and engagement.   The innovative utilisation of SMAs could ensure that more patients receive access to healthcare faster, facilitating healthcare for all. ❤️🩹 https://lnkd.in/ev9ZYPyQ #BlueSkyThinking #SMAs #HealthCareCrisis 

New study in #HSR from So-Yeon Kang PhD, MBA, MPH examine whether hospitals' experience in a prior payment model incentivizing care coordination is associated with their decision to adopt a new payment program for a care delivery innovation. WHAT IS KNOWN Hospitals make decisions to participate in a new program based on financial incentives and economic benefits. WHAT THIS STUDY ADDS Hospitals that participated in a previous demonstration program, either directly or through associated physician group practices, were more likely to adopt a future innovation requiring similar competence in care coordination. CONCLUSION Hospitals that participated in the bundled payment model either directly or indirectly PGPs were more likely to adopt a care delivery innovation requiring similar competence in the next period. The Alliance welcomes the establishment of a new body - the Medical Workforce Advisory Collaboration (MWAC), that will advise on medical workforce priorities, including supply and demand, distribution, workforce capability and support. Susi Tegen, Chief Executive of the Alliance is represented on this important advisory body. The Alliance looks forward to working with this body to shape the direction of Australia’s healthcare workforce and contribute to the discussions on how the government, state and territories as well as stakeholders will work towards developing policies to expand the domestic pipeline of GPs. Black Men’s Health Clinic (BMHC) proudly announces a new collaborative partnership with BioBehavioral Research of Austin (BBRA), marking a significant step towards bridging gaps and disparities within healthcare specific to clinical trials. As a part of the QCR (Quality Clinical Research) Network, this collaboration aims to address the critical issue of underrepresentation amongst people of color, in particular black men, relating to approved medications prescribed by providers or available over the counter. BMHC and BBRA are joining forces to ensure medical interventions are thoroughly evaluated before being marketed and prescribed medication promoted for them. BBRA has expertly trained medical staff and is respected for their commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare. Both the BMHC and BBRA are looking forward to this partnership, underscoring a shared dedication to addressing healthcare disparities and promoting inclusivity in clinical research.
