Getting started with a brand-new year ✅ LUSTER is more alive than ever before… Last year was all about changes ➡️ I’ve taken a step forward to collaborate more closely with my long-time partners, which I consider as Luster’s Core team. This single decision has shifted my perspective on collaboration, as I’m more open into sharing and giving more. And yes, it’s taking more time and effort from my end to align everything up. But for me, it’s a safe bet. The core team is made out of the most resilient, learning-craving persons I’ve ever met. Most importantly, they are amazing people in a personal level. Everyone in their role can share valuable insights, regardless of the task. Sometimes, we find value on the little details that someone may find miscellaneous. As architects, we do care about details and go deep in our methods (for everything, no jokes) ✅Our workflow is increasingly dynamic. We admit our mistakes and make the necessary changes to avoid similar situations. This attitude shifts our view on previous “useful” work techniques, and allow space for new opportunities. 📈And Last but not least, Numbers don’t lie… We’ve completed more than one hundred projects in 2023. I’m amazed by the variety of projects we’ve received, and how they turned out. 🔦 👨💼 Employee Spotlight is a new section we introduce in our page in order to make our people and their expertise more visible to you. What better way to inaugurate this new section then, than introducing Martin Hofman, an important executive and an exceptional gentleman. An expert in engineering, logistics and supply chain management, Martin joined Streem Global in early 2021 as Chief of Quality & Engineering, having already accumulated more than twenty years of invaluable experience in logistics, supply chains and the distribution market. But even before joining Streem Global, he was no stranger to our country, having settled here since 2001. He is not particularly fond of stagnant situations, so he is always up for a new challenge, be that a mental or physical one. Professionally, he’s had his fair share of challenges. Still, what he deems the most demanding (and rewarding) project he has ever undertaken, is raising his children, especially as they get older and need to be guided through the final stages of adolescence into adulthood. He gets excited when things come together. “This could be a client accepting a proposed technical solution, the first pallet going into a new warehouse or seeing new processes being applied by the people. Especially if it involves a big project with many people, when all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, it’s the best thing!” As far as his vision for Streem Global goes: “I like to believe that we all have the same vision for Streem! My role in this vision is to make sure that, in the end, Streem can be on a par with the big players in the 3PL market in terms of technology used, productivity achieved, and standards applied”. Martin enjoys running, hiking, puzzles and cinema. He’s fluent in English, Dutch, Greek and German, so his expertise is shared in many languages – an ideal trait in an industry that is of global scope. The [YELLOW CAR] School Experience Audit is a tool that measures some of the Elements that are in place in a school at different stages of the Lifecycle of School Experience. It has now been completed by nearly 400 individuals in schools right across the world. It is also a tool that gives insight into work culture and, in this context, one of our most striking findings is how often people themselves working in a silo, disconnected from those around them. This finding is important, particularly because we know that a siloed, disconnected team will often lead to a siloed, disconnected experience for the students, families, and employees in a school. Happy Friday Golden Eagles! It's time to share our last Co-op Spotlight of the semester! Today is Business Administration Master's student, Julian Burkhardt! He has spent the last two semesters as a Business Development Specialist at Hormann Group North America. When asked about his Co-op, he said, "This semester I will continue implementing a new fleet management system across the East of Hörmann North America. In addition, I am to create several forms that will help processes like budgeting, equipment requests, and controlling. Furthermore, I will be involved in starting a green initiative at Hormann because all European subsidiaries need to report green initiative numbers and metrics by next year. Also, I will heavily be involved in the development of several IT platforms." Julian says he has learned a lot in terms of navigating different ERP systems, as well as several sales performance platforms. He shared that his skills in research, utilizing financial reports, accounting, and decision-making have developed most. His advice to anyone considering a Co-op is, "It is extremely beneficial because you get first-hand insights from experienced professionals. Celebrating our 15th year at Hatch is an achievement I am very proud of. I can 100% say that all past and of course the present talented Hatchlings have all played their part in growing our brand, our offer and delivering for clients. Importantly though, we have also managed to have some fun along the way. I could say it's all been 'plane sailing' and how easy it is driving the business forward. This couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, last year was a really tough trading year for Hatch. There were multiple reasons for this, but for the most part it felt like brands were being cautious to invest against the backdrop of inflation and the cost of living crisis. I am sure some will blindly say everything is great all the time to keep appearances, but surely a bit of honesty goes a long way with your team and network. I know many suffered last year and I’m convinced our industry could have told everyone we were in a recession before the official technical figures were released! This was especially true in the first six months of 2023 for Hatch. However, I believe the sign of a good business is when things are tighter the team pull together, you focus on your talents and reinvigorate your offer. I am so proud of the team and the Board at Hatch, as the second half of 2023 saw us do just that, and we battled our way into a positive end to 2023. What’s more encouraging is this fight and desire has translated to an even stronger start to 2024, and based on the first three months of the year we are in for our best year yet. So I suppose the purpose of this post is really to celebrate talent in your team and to flag that business is always a roller coaster. If you are focused and engage the team, sometimes a little market challenge to ongoing growth can pay dividends.
