1% for the 99% Initiative At Marks Realty Group, we recognize that the top 1% of the wealthiest people in our country have a disproportionate share of capital, political influence, and the means of living a life of privilege and comfort, education, and health. As a result of this wealth inequality and in line with our ethos on beneficence, we established our 1% for the 99% Initiative which annually gives 1% of our total commission to nonprofits committed to making a difference in their local communities, with particular attention paid to social justice and environmental issues. We have selected the following three organizations as the recipients for 2024 of the 1% for the 99% Initiative: • Two Valleys Community Land Trust • Welcome Home Project • Canal Alliance If you would like to support such an initiative, let’s work together! jonathan@marksrealtygroup.com 415.307.0505 DRE#01447489 #WealthInequality #SocialImpact #CommunitySupport #1PercentForThe99Percent #MarksRealtyGroup #Beneficence #GiveBack #Nonprofit #SocialJustice #EnvironmentalIssues #SupportLocalCommunities #RealEstate #MakeADifference https://lnkd.in/g8ka_4B4

With the help of United Way's Community Impact Grant, Side by Side was able to do wonderous things in Walworth County for families in need. What is Side by Side? Many people are struggling to make ends meet in our community. Whether it’s sickness, an accident, job loss, or another misfortune, your neighbors are faced with times when they can’t afford everyday living expenses. In fact, • More than 1,000 of every 7,000 households in Greater Lake Geneva earn less than $20,000 annually. • Nearly half (46 percent) of Lake Geneva grade school students qualify for reduced or free lunch. Fortunately, caring neighbors are all around to help volunteer and donate to make our mission a reality at Side by Side. We’re able to help with the short-term assistance people need to help overcome life’s challenges. Side by Side provides financial help to pay for rent/mortgage, utilities bills, or prescription costs. We also provide referrals to other community resources where people can get help. https://lnkd.in/gd2XBTcF #unitedway #walworthcountywi #communityimpact

It's inspiring to see how one organization is making a difference in the lives of those in need. The Global Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation (#GGAF) was created to address the lack of support for those affected by natural disasters, famine, poverty, and food insecurity. With no paid staff, expense accounts, or private jets, this US-based #501c3nonprofit relies on its 19,000 volunteers to provide aid and document their impact through photos and articles in their monthly magazine, The Ambassador. GGAF's unique approach to addressing people in need has caught our attention. They've created a community of volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in the world. They've proven that you don't need billions of dollars or fancy buildings to make a real impact. Before you consider giving to "the machine," we encourage you to check out GGAF and their incredible work. Learn how you can get involved and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. I’ve been exploring how data shows up in other fields to compare it with corporate social impact data. ⏭ My observations contribute to Debunking or questioning some best practices 🤔 And Reinforcing others. 🏅 Reading about Mackenzie Scott’s latest round of giving isn’t far outside of corporate social impact. The story is told using big numbers. The big numbers are supplemented by examples of specific grantees giving the specifics of their work. That sounds pretty familiar. 😊 CNN / Business Insider / AP articles $ given ($640 million) # organizations applied (6,000) # organizations in top tier scores(279), $2M each # of organizations next tier (82), $1M each $ B, Scott’s fortune (36.2) $ given last year or last round $ budget to eligible ($1M and $5M) Similar to the incredible spike in some organizations' budgets in 2016, I'm curious how we will look back on Yield Giving's effects five years from now. 🔮 In the majority, the nonprofit sector responds to the issues created by our faulty and harmful systems. Responsive action doesn't create systemic change but it does make things better for people's lives. That's why I'm hopeful to hear stories of individual's lives changing ✨ because of these massive gifts, including the nonprofit staff themselves, but do not expect stories of systems change. 🏔 #CSR #philanthropy #corporatephilanthropy #measuretomanage #DataInsights #DataforGood
We're thrilled to share the Yield Giving Open Call has announced 361 U.S. nonprofit organizations are receiving $640 million in funding! The Open Call — managed by Lever for Change — sought community-led, community-focused organizations whose explicit purpose is to advance the voices and opportunities of individuals, families, and communities who have met with systemic obstacles. These organizations are focused on working with people and in places experiencing the greatest need in the U.S.: communities, individuals, and families with access to the fewest foundational resources and opportunities. Congratulations to all of the awardees! For more information, visit: https://lnkd.in/gWNYQb5q #YieldGiving #YieldGivingOpenCall #SocialImpact

Considering working in the #nonprofit or #government sector? Meet #USCPrice alum Nicolas Rodriguez, MPA, a specialist at a youth homeless and foster care nonprofit. He shares his experience in the USC Price MPA Online program and how important it was to gain skills and knowledge that were immediately applicable to his field. “I think if anyone were to get into this program and if they find themselves in the nonprofit or government sector, that is such a much more enriching way to engage with the subject materials because you’re easily able to see how this relates to your current job.” Check out the rest of his Q&A here to learn more about the program: https://lnkd.in/gKXBNx7T USC Online
