There are so many people to honor today. It's both NATIONAL SCHOOL NURSE DAY & NATIONAL THIRD SHIFT WORKERS DAY - Each year on on the Wednesday of National Nurses Week honors all school nurses who care for the children in the schools every day. School nurses promote learning through healthy children. School nurses are often the first place a student thinks to go when they don't feel well or have been hurt. But they also provide a wealth of information that supports a successful education as well. Also, each year, National Third Shift Workers Day on the second Wednesday in May recognizes the workers who face the night to keep businesses running, hospitals staffed, and streets safe. However, not all third shifts are in business. Hospitals, first responders, and nursing homes work 24 hours a day, too. Metropolitan areas of any size have employees working overnight to ensure the safety and reliability of water, power, and other infrastructure. Kudos to both sets of professionals.
