Ecstatic with an important milestone in my career: my first publication in a FT50 journal! In collaboration with the amazing scholars Daniel Bennett and Gary A. Wagner, our paper, "Regional Innovation Networks and High-Growth Entrepreneurship," has been accepted by Research Policy, a Financial Times50 journal, also rated as 4* by the Academic Journal Guide, and A* in the ABDC list. 🎉 In this paper, we delve into the realm of innovation collaboration among inventors within regions, and its ripple effects on high growth entrepreneurship. Our findings underscore that regions with stronger innovation collaboration tend to exhibit more high-growth entrepreneurship. This positive effect is also amplified in regions with higher entrepreneurial capital. Some of our highlights include: - Uncovering the role of strong regional innovation networks in facilitating high-growth entrepreneurship, shedding light on a possible mechanism to penetrate the "knowledge filter" through knowledge diffusion. - Extending the Knowledge Spillover Theory of Entrepreneurship (KSTE) framework by emphasizing the importance of knowledge diffusion and connectivity, beyond mere knowledge production (e.g., higher number of patents). - Showing that the impact of regional innovation networks on high-growth entrepreneurship is contingent on the level of regional entrepreneurial capital, enriching our understanding of entrepreneurs as agents of knowledge spillovers. - Exploring the temporal dynamics of multi-year innovation networks, indicating that diffusion of newly created knowledge is crucial for high-growth firms. It was a wonderful day at the 2nd Takhleeq Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge (TiEC’24) as a judge, alongside other esteemed panelists Muhammad Faraz, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz, and Muhammad Fakhar Ali. The event was a testament to the incredible talent and ingenuity of the students at the University of Central Punjab (UCP). I was truly surprised and impressed by their innovative and creative ideas, which showcased a diverse range of business concepts and products. From tech-driven solutions to sustainable business models, the students' projects reflected a deep understanding of current market needs and future trends. These innovations are clear indicators that our youth are well-equipped to become the next generation of business leaders and changemakers. The success stories of university-born businesses like Facebook, Google, and Dropbox, all of which started as student projects and grew into global giants. These examples highlight the immense potential of student-led initiatives and the transformative power of academic innovation. TiEC’24, organized by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Club UCP in collaboration with the Takhleeq Business Incubator, aims to ignite creativity and innovation among UCP students. This competition provides a platform for students to develop and pitch their business ideas, gain practical experience, and receive valuable feedback from industry experts. Kudos to Mr. Faizan Khalid, Director of Takhleeq Business Incubator, and the entire organizing team, including Mahida, Zaid and Murtaza, for this incredible event and seamless management.
