This week, BOEM Director Elizabeth Klein joined the 2024 Floating Wind Days conference in Haugesund, participating in the opening session on "Geopolitics." Learn more about the conference here: https://lnkd.in/gGussNPv With moderator Arne Vatnøy, Communication Manager for Norwegian Offshore Wind, Director Klein emphasized the critical role of offshore wind in combating climate change and highlighted the Biden-Harris administration's efforts to promote responsible development of floating wind resources. With about two-thirds of U.S. offshore wind potential in deep waters, floating wind technology is essential. The nation aims to deploy 15 gigawatts of floating wind capacity by 2035, powering over 5 million homes and aiding the country’s transition to a renewable energy future. These efforts promise significant economic benefits and can position the U.S. as a global leader in floating offshore wind industry.
What a day, what a crowd, what an industry 🤩 The opening day of Floating Wind Days = a room packed with passion for floating wind! 750 people from more than 20 countries are all windfluencers, aiming to drive the industry forward. Nothing beats that energy! Thank you to everyone who contributed in the program. We are so excited to have you all here with us these days in beautiful Haugesund!
