The more I learn and read about how disastrous the resources are managed at the Department of Defense and its Armed Services branches, and how the present administration utilizes the law enforcement agencies to enforce and promote their political agendas persecuting the people who think different than the uniparty, how heroes are prosecuted for defending the innocent and criminals walk free, the more I question how much will the people take before they rise against an oppressive and authoritarian regime. There’s very little incentive for young men and women to serve the nation when their own government doesn’t honor the sacrifices of the men and women in uniform. Things need to change. America is unrecognizable.

Yesterday, we witnessed the appalling act of our flag being burned and desecrated. While the Constitution allows for peaceful assembly and demonstration, as an American patriot, I cannot condone this under the guise of free speech. This act represents nothing but pure disdain and hatred for our country, carried out by those who hide behind masks and wave flags of terror. Why is it now acceptable to display symbols of terrorism? Countless true Americans have sacrificed their lives for our flag. Our veterans, who responded to its call time and again without hesitation, deserve better. Our flag should remain a symbol of hope and pride, not be overshadowed by the actions of a few dissidents and cowards who would rather promote anti-American sentiments than defend the principles this country stands for. Perhaps those who find our nation so objectionable should experience life elsewhere? To those of us who cherish what our flag truly symbolizes, let’s make every day Flag Day. Fly Old Glory daily. It’s time to counteract the immoral minority decisively. We must push for legislation that makes desecrating our flag a crime. Let’s stand together to protect and honor our symbol of freedom!

🦉ME: Whatever your views on #DonaldTrump are, there is an unparalleled history of #politicalassassinations and #politicalviolence in #America - from Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, Teddy Roosevelt, the Kennedys, Jack and Bobby, Martin Luther King, and Malcom X to an attack on Ronald Reagan. Trump has expressed fear of an #assassinationattempt previously. The shooter fired from 137m away on a roof with a semi-automatic rifle. One spectator was killed and others were injured. Trump himself was shot in his right ear. In this gap of #information people may be tempted to fill it with their #assumptions and own #biases. However it is unhelpful in the extreme to speculate and disrespectful to the families of the victims. We will know more in due course as information trickles out. Updated: the shooter was a 20-year-old man Thomas Matthew Crooks shot dead by Police whose motivations are unclear. Screeds of articles have been written about political violence in the #UnitedStates. There are always recriminations (justifiable usually) after an event of this dramatic nature - about gun control, the extreme left and right, the #security, and #safety of candidates and large crowds in the febrile atmosphere of an #electioncampaign. This current #presidentialelectioncycle is more inflammatory than any other in living memory. The stakes are incredibly high both in the #US and the many hot spots around the world (Ukraine, Eastern Europe, Europe, the Indo-Pacific and Africa). Border skirmishes are common and the threat of #terrorism is still with us. The war in #Ukraine has polarised #Americans as has Trump. #Russia’s #disinformationcampaigns have increased as November looms. His destabilising rhetoric has flowed continuously along with his endless lies. The United States is on the cusp of a potential dramatic change to its #domesticleadership and its #leadership of #NATO. Its role as a protector of #democracies under threat is in doubt for the second time since the end of the Cold War. The first time was during the first #Trumppresidency. Passions are running high amongst average #USvoters and the festering rage of #extremists has been on the rise for several years. January 6 was a watershed moment when the centre did not hold and all hell broke loose. Trump himself is a lightning rod for hate. He has arguably put himself at risk with his volatile presence on #socialmedia, his personal attacks on #politicalopponents and his playbook of close-to-the-edge and often OTT language. He is a proven liar and his extreme #narratives evoke strong feelings both positive and negative. I am reminded of the assassination attempt on the life of Governor #GeorgeWallace of #Alabama in 1972 who was a racist and fought against the civil rights movement.
