We are honored to share that our Homes for Healing program has reached an impressive milestone of over 10,000 nights donated. This initiative has been a lifeline for more than 120 families across five cities — Birmingham, Phoenix, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Orlando — since its launch two years ago. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our community and hospital partners. Together, we are offering private homes to families traveling to receive life-saving medical treatment for children in need. Moving into a senior care community doesn’t have to be a traumatic experience for couples. Many senior care communities allow couples to live together while taking the burden of the caregiving off the spouse. Using Cornell’s InFORM™ I A Mobile Nurse Call system you can create unique care plans for couples. In addition to collecting actionable data, the InFORM™ I A Mobile Nurse Call system offers heightened security through a video doorbell and enhanced staff communication features, including text and calling, and much more. Director Of Community Relations Assisting Hands Home Care-Expert Elder Care-Customized Senior Support-Aging Specialist-Caregiving for Your Families in Fairfax & Montgomery CTY-Creative Engagement-Healing & Visual Art
National Day of Giving (November 29, 2022) encourages giving back. Assisting Hands Homecare gives back to the community. We’ve just spent the weekend shopping and searching for the best possible deals. National Day Of Giving reminds us to give to those in need. Whether we look to our favorite causes or charities, it is a great reminder to lift others up during a generous time of year. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. Try these ways to give: Set up a collection for non-perishable food at work. Deliver the collection to a local food pantry. Donate gift cards to a shelter. Collect new toys and donate them to children spending the holidays in the hospital. Make blankets for those receiving cancer treatment. https://lnkd.in/eUTYtHCV

Even after 11 years, sadly, many people have trouble accessing medical aid in dying. Many more people are making decisions about their end-of-life care without even knowing that there is an alternative to pain and suffering with a terminal illness. PCV’s mission is about autonomy, dignity, equal access, and individual values. We work to ensure that all relevant information is available and care is accessible to anyone desiring a choice at the end-of-life care that matches their values and priorities. https://lnkd.in/e83Uhxch

Time to call your representative! If you live in the US, you can help make sure that the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act gets passed. This bill will: - Amend the definition of “audiology services” in the Medicare statute, which specifies the services that audiologists may provide, to include all services already covered by Medicare that are also within an audiologist's scope of practice; - Amend the Medicare definition of practitioner to include audiologists, which improves beneficiary access to audiologic and vestibular care, a change that is consistent with Medicare's classification of similar health care providers such as clinical social workers and clinical psychologists; - Make technical changes to remove the pre-treatment order requirement, which does not exist with any other federal or commercial payer, allowing beneficiaries to have direct access to audiologists; - Ensure seniors and people with disabilities can receive the full scope of audiology services covered by Medicare at Rural Health Centers and Federally Qualified Health Centers; and - Make no changes to the scope of hearing health benefits covered by Medicare or the scope of practice of audiologists. With maternal mortality/morbidity and newborn death rates on the rise in the United States, how do we make an impact as one individual nurse leader? I’m very excited to share that I completed the Respectful, Equitable Care Certification by the Family to Family Support Network. Anti-racism, unique families, LGBTQIA+, substance use disorder, and trauma-informed care are all covered under one amazing certification. However, after reflecting on the whole training, I realized this certification focuses on an overarching theme of interacting respectfully and LISTENING to your patients...ALL of your patients. If we focus on respectful care, that is equitable for our more vulnerable populations, and listen and bring our patients into a shared-decision making model…maybe that’s when we can truly start to turn the dial on our unacceptable maternal & newborn statistics in this country.

Senior Fellow at the Government Affairs Institute at Georgetown University and Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy
I'm proud to have done work with the National Alliance for Caregiving to better inform policymakers. My late husband, Todd Rosa, had pancreatic cancer for two years and underwent extensive medical interventions, including a five-organ transplant, to try to save his life. STAT News recently covered the challenges of transplant caregiving, relying on the findings of NAC's Transplant Caregiving in the US report that I advised on last year. The article highlights a range of important caregiving needs, from policies that provide better financial support and protection, to training assistance, to mental health resources. https://lnkd.in/eDdHzBRN #Caregiving #TransplantCare

Maybe they should be shipped in any new CT and MR installation. If its an option as any cardiac or mammo package it would be implemented faster than as a different modality or just publicity in awards and news. Jonathan Coupland Not saying it should be free, am saying it should be easier to offer it or implementing it, because the Kitten Scanner have existed since more than 15 years, and yet just a few sites have them installed. As an unasked advice: This should be a mandatory item at installation time for the sake of the little ones, and of course it would be another great differential signature of #philipshealthcare
