4everPack project was funded by Business Finland as a co-research project, with the project activities taking place between August 2021 and September 2023. The overall budget for the project was little over €1,5 million. The project concluded that the transition to reusable packaging systems has the potential to reduce the negative environmental impact of single-use packaging. 4everPack consortium identified several support mechanisms required for this transition including technological advancements, legislation, funding for innovation, increased consumer understanding and investments towards efficient reuse infrastructure. Read here the insights from Henna Sundqvist (VTT), Kyösti Pennanen (University of Vaasa) and Sara Anttila (she / her) (Kotipizza Group Oy) as well as additional commentary from Metsä Board's perspective provided by Markku Leskelä: https://lnkd.in/dE2xn-BQ #expandfibre #collaboration #packaging #consumergoods #4everpack #reuse #circulareconomy

Starting somewhere, starting small. It’s been 10 weeks (2modules) into my #sustainability journey with Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) Eden Strategy Institute, LLP. On my first day of class, I recalled seeing tetra packet water served as an option aside from refillable tea and coffee. I thought to myself, hmm. Quite wasteful, we’re sus students, should we not be advocating on BYO bottles? New to the class, youngest in class, I was apprehensive on how to approach this. Fast forward to week 3, where I initiated a bottle cap recycling movement. Made an announcement in class to rally support to place the bottle caps from the tetra pack into yellow crate, thanks to Paul Lee for the sponsorship of carabiner made of recycled plastics, awareness was raised and the class got really interested in this. Coincidentally, Andrew Buay came to class that day and shared on his blue bottle - the bottle he carries around which used to be his child’s. Yield on the first couple of days were high. Some 8-10 bottle caps per day. Subsequently, the number of bottle caps started dropping, the consumption rate of tetra pack started to drop too. One classmate came to me and said, “I feel bad for contributing less bottle caps, but that’s cause I’ve been going to the water dispenser to refill the tetra pack”. Immediately I said “no! I’m so glad you’re #reusing the pack!” Some classmates cheekily came to me and showed me their bottles - like “hey, I brought my own water bottle!” Did it cost a lot? - no, probably just be carrying the crate up and down every time I go for class, maybe the bus fare for me to go drop off the bottle caps at Plastify Was it tough to implement? - somewhat, given I had to garner #courage to speak up in an unknown #environment - super #thankful to have an industrial giant giving it a subtle push the very day we started this journey. Was there an #inpact? - I would love to think so that my classmates now know bottle caps are #recyclable, the vendor they can work with, and the culture of BYO bottles. :)

What happens when you give years of your life and spend and tonnes of money developing a product... Only to find people love it but not quite as much as they loathe paying for fine art storage? Time to think outside of the box (terrible pun but I just can't help myself). You convene competitors and invite them to collaborate instead of compete to build a rental network. Then people can hire your product when they need it, where they want it. It's certainly not without challenges but thanks to the coolest most forward-thinking people I know in shipping, we're making it work. ROKBOX LOOP is expanding into Geneva and Cologne this month, and adding capacity in London, bringing our total number of global rental hubs to 15! and more in the pipeline. I'm so happy to welcome Regency Shipping Limited along with Isabelle Harsch and Robin Harsch at Harsch, The Art of Moving Forward as the newest members of this first-of-its-kind collaboration. Thank you. And as ever, thanks to the people who helped launch ROKBOX LOOP; Oliver Howell Ida Ng Jason Bailer Losh Fritz Dietl Chris Bentley and of course the ROKBOX team Verity Brown Harriet Powell Chris Kneale Claudia Ruane. #startup #founder #circulareconomy #collaboration
📢 Breaking news THE ROKBOX LOOP NETWORK WELCOMES TWO NEW SHIPPERS & EXPANDS AVAILABILITY IN 3 COUNTRIES ROKBOX is very pleased to welcome fine art shippers Harsch, The Art of Moving Forward and Regency Shipping Limited to the existing vanguard of ROKBOX LOOP collaborators Dietl International Services, Gander & White Shipping, Helu-Trans (S) Pte Ltd and Haas & Company AG.
