There are many 'Vigilant Voices' in our community, speaking up for the wellbeing of children. Today, join Kristin's conversation with Sophia Booker, contributor to the book Reshuffled: Stories of Hope and Resilience from Foster Care. Sophia is empowering the next generation to be effective advocates for change. Her three keys? Give them information, context, and space to think critically! 💙 It's Kinship Caregiver Month, a time to honor those stepping in to care for children when they need it most! This year, the Annie E. Casey Foundation highlighted that over 50% of children in Arizona’s foster care system are in kinship placements, making AZ a top state for kinship care. Let's give our thanks to these caregivers and continue to push for policies that support their success. Key actions include reducing barriers to licensing, providing equitable financial support, and recognizing the needs of unlicensed caregivers. C.S. Lewis once said, 'Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work.' In the realm of foster care, this sentiment couldn't be more true. Let's continue to prioritize our children (blood-related or not), recognizing that this work is not just important – it's essential. Learn more about us at the link below: https://lnkd.in/gUX2kSVC

Did you know? The numbers are staggering, and it's time to raise awareness! In the United States, one in three children will experience interactions with the foster care system by adulthood. Shockingly, for Black children, it's one in two. These statistics highlight the urgent need for support and change in our communities. At Snohomish County CASA, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of these children. Our dedicated advocates work tirelessly to provide a voice for those who need it most. Let's come together, raise awareness, and be the change these statistics desperately need. Share this post, spread awareness, and let's build a future where every child has the love and stability they deserve. #FosterCareAwareness #Blackhistorymonth #BeTheChange #RaiseAwareness #MakeADifference #EveryChildMatters #SnohomishcountyCASA #CASA #Snohomishcounty

Through our signature program, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, the Foundation supports the hiring of adoption professionals, known as recruiters, who are dedicated to finding permanent families for children in foster care who are too often overlooked. That includes teenagers, children with special needs and siblings. Recruiters use an evidence-based, child-focused recruitment model to find the right family for every child. A rigorous, five-year national evaluation revealed that children referred to the program are up to 3x more likely to be adopted. The child-focused recruitment focuses on three areas: ❤️ Finding the right family for the child ❤️ Respecting a child’s voice, privacy and dignity ❤️ The belief that every child is adoptable. As it nears the end of June, Children’s Awareness Month is also coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean the work ends as well. It’s a reminder that the commitment to nurturing and protecting the well-being of children should be a year-round effort. Communities, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to continue advocating for children’s rights, providing support, and fostering environments where every child can thrive. Additionally, raising awareness about critical issues such as child abuse, neglect, and mental health is essential. By staying informed and advocating for policies that protect children, we can contribute to creating a safer and more supportive society. Remember, every action, no matter how small, can have a significant impact. Whether it’s through a kind word, a supportive gesture, or active participation in community efforts, we all have a role to play in ensuring that children grow up in a world where they feel valued, protected, and empowered. Let the spirit of Children's Awareness Month inspire us to continue making a difference every day. #ChildrensAwarenessMonth #First5Lake
