We are excited to announce that we have taken a significant step forward in our sustainability journey by signing a landmark agreement with Volvo Trucks for the delivery of 300 electric heavy trucks. We are dedicated to transitioning our fleet to more sustainable alternatives and the agreement underscores our commitment to leading the green transition in the transport industry.
This partnership is not just a milestone for DSV and Volvo Trucks, but a testament to the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change.
Søren Schmidt, CEO DSV Road, says: “Close collaboration across sectors provides an opportunity for DSV to be a key enabler for decarbonisation in the industry. We are happy to extend our partnership with Volvo in our joint effort to reduce emissions in the transport industry. As a global leader in logistics, we must try to stay at the forefront of the green transition and this agreement is a fantastic example of how new technologies can be brought to market at scale to make them more accessible for our customers. The deal with Volvo is an important step towards enabling a more sustainable future in trucking.”

By 2030, DSV - Global Transport and Logistics hope to have a fleet of 2,000 electric trucks across our operations in Europe. Today, we took an important step towards achieving these ambitions by announcing an agreement with Volvo Trucks to order 300 electric trucks. This will bolster our existing fleet of electric and fuel-efficient transport assets and is one of the largest commercial orders for Volvo electric trucks.
The addition of 300 electric trucks will certainly have a significant impact on our emissions and enable us to better support our customers to achieve their decarbonisation targets. However, for me the key to this agreement is that it illustrates the importance of strong partnerships and collaboration to achieve sustainable transformation. It also highlights the critical role of embracing new technologies to help accelerate our sustainable transformation.
As a customer and supplier for Volvo, we have a unique partnership that enables us to support decarbonisation efforts beyond DSV. This agreement is a fantastic example of how we can come together to help get closer to our broader sustainability goals. A huge thank you to Volvo and I look forward to seeing these trucks on the road.

Today is an especially good day to be working at DSV 🌍
We have signed an agreement with Volvo Trucks to deepen our partnership and deploy 300 electric trucks into our operations by 2026.
This is in direct alignment with the strategy DSV - Global Transport and Logistics published earlier this year, where we outlined our roadmap for achieving our climate targets by 2030. As part of that plan, we committed to deploying 300 electric trucks and other low- and zero-emission alternatives within the next two years, while also significantly improving the efficiency of our remaining diesel fleet. Today’s agreement is a clear execution of that strategy 💪
We are working hard on establishing the necessary charging infrastructure to support this transition, while our colleagues around the world are deploying BEVs into the most optimal flows and operations in close cooperation with our sub-suppliers and customers. This agreement will further support rapid deployment in our key markets.
I am looking forward to continuing the work of bringing electrification to market at scale and making even more sustainable solutions available to our customers 🚚🔋
We just placed an order for yet another 100 electric trucks 🚛🔌
We currently have the largest fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks in Europe, and with this step, we're closer to reaching the target of electrifying at least 25% of its truck fleet by 2030.
"We want to drive the transition to more sustainable road transport. Our expanding fleet of electric trucks will not only contribute to reducing the climate impact of our operations. It will also enable DFDS to support more companies looking to decarbonise their supply chains. The 100 new electric trucks underline our commitment to pushing the development forward," says Niklas Andersson, EVP of the Logistics Division.
We ordered 125 electric trucks in 2021. 95 are in operation today in Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Belgium, and the Netherlands, and the last 30 will be delivered in 2024.
Join us in our journey towards a more electrifying future, and stay tuned for more updates on our new E-trucks ⚡🔌💡

Navigating the future // Rhenus Partnership Revolutionises European Inland Shipping!
Pioneering a new era in sustainability for inland shipping. Three flagships belonging to a new low-emission fleet generation are currently under construction in order to advance sustainability in inland shipping, but what sets these vessels apart?
- Engineered to navigate even in low water levels and withstand strong currents, these vessels redefine inland waterway capabilities.
- These vessels, unmatched in size and performance, are powered by a scalable lithium-ion battery, advanced Stage VI engines, and a hydrogen-based fuel cell—a historic first.
- Emission reductions are impressive: a 72% cut in CO2 and NOX emissions thanks to the fuel cell integration.
- Featuring partial autonomy, remote control, and maintenance facilitated by continuous data transmission to shore, these ships herald a new age of control and efficiency.
At Rhenus, we focus not only on innovative technologies, but also on sustainability and efficiency. Our vessels are ready to tackle the challenges of todays and tomorrow’s inland navigation. Together, we are shaping an environmentally friendly future on the water.

🚛🔋 Electric trucks are making significant strides across Europe, but progress isn’t uniform. Countries like the Netherlands and the UK are seeing rapid growth in electric truck registrations, while others are lagging behind. For instance, the Netherlands has seen a 3% increase, and the UK and Norway are also experiencing strong growth.
As the European leader in home and living, we are committed to driving sustainability. We are working towards increasing our fleet of electric trucks in Germany to 300 by 2024. This goal aligns with our mission to make logistics greener and more efficient.
The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) highlights these trends, showing that the future of transport is electric. Companies investing in electric trucks today are shaping the logistics of tomorrow. At Rhenus Home Delivery, we are proud to lead this transformation and drive the industry towards a more sustainable future.
Together, we can build a cleaner and smarter transport network.

Construction of low-emission flagships is progressing 🌿🚢
Important construction progress on one of the three sustainable inland vessels: The modern Stage VI engines were installed with a crane. With these, the fleet will emit significantly fewer emissions than with conventional inland shipping technologies. The lithium-ion battery modules and the container racks for the hydrogen containers have also already been installed. This is the first time that inland waterway vessels of this size and capacity have been powered by this combination, thus reducing emissions by up to 70 percent 🔋
In addition, the ships are designed in such a way that they have good trim even at low water and can continue to operate even at extremely low water levels. Partially autonomous control and remote maintenance are also part of the new generation of inland waterway vessels. By building this fleet generation, we at Rhenus are demonstrating our commitment to innovative technology, sustainability and efficiency and are thus preparing ourselves for the challenges of the future.
