Ph.D. patent attorney with deep experience in bringing technologies to market, particularly startup and academic techs. Most recently headed up bio/biotech licensing for SUNY Upstate, Downstate, Albany and Optometry.
The Past Keeps Cropping Up ***************************** A good friend connected me with a student team that’s prepping for a business plan competition. 5 minute pitch, 5 minutes of questions, a hard format for anyone, even the most perfect pitcher. Funny thing, I truly enjoyed working with them, only 45 minutes or so but still it takes me back to my doing national and regional iCorps as well as maybe 15 years of running people through how to give a presentation in “business competition” format. See my earlier posting of the (partially) tongue-in-cheek book I wrote on those competitions, and, if nothing else, read chapter 4 on the real product of cigarettes with a filter made of cheese. The last 2.5 years at SUNY RF I’ve split my time between 4 campuses, many professors, lots of exciting technologies, the breadth is still amazing to me, yet this quick interaction yesterday takes me back to the advantage of being able to focus on just a few too many things, rather than a super-superabundance. As I said at the top, ,the past keeps cropping up. Happy Thursday!
