Marketing Strategist | Social Media Manager | B2C Specialist | Industry Agnostic Marketeer | Content Creation Expert | Team Leader
"Wait… did I just read that right? Hiring a Social Media Manager and then… surprise! The description says, Intern! 🤯 Let’s get one thing straight—a Social Media Manager and an Intern are NOT the same. They come with completely different responsibilities, expectations, and skill sets. A manager takes the reins, leads strategy, oversees campaigns, and makes critical decisions that impact a brand’s online presence. An intern, on the other hand, is learning the ropes, gaining experience, and assisting in day-to-day tasks. So, why is it so hard to distinguish between the two? We need to stop undermining the work that goes into social media management. Titles matter because they reflect the level of responsibility and the value of the role. Let’s respect the difference and ensure we’re offering roles that align with expectations. Who else has seen this, and how does it make you feel? #SocialMediaManager #InternVsManager #RolesAndResponsibilities #RespectTheTitle #Intern #Title #Hierarchy

Only one week left to apply for the Grasslands Diversity in Marketing Internship! Curious how the DIM internship can set you up for success in your marcomms career? Here's what 2023 DIM Intern Jordyn Whitaker (pictured left) had to say: "Grasslands’ Diversity-in-Marketing internship has changed not only my professional life but also my personal life. The opportunity to learn from a team of passionate, genuine, strategic, and creative individuals has granted me a wealth of knowledge that I wouldn’t be able to have anywhere else. I entered this internship with little to no PR, marketing, or agency experience and I’m leaving with real hands-on experiences with social media marketing, pitch development and distribution, project management, sales and analytics, and much more." The "social media intern" jokes still prevail to this day. Many people don't realize that social media is a vital responsibility for companies that builds brand awareness, drives sales and creates community engagement. I still see on some channels and accounts comment about "the social media intern is doing a good job" or "the social media intern deserves a raise". Social media jobs may have started out as internships back in the day, but the job field has grown and become a legitimate career that is well needed in today's job market. To all the people who are in social media and work endlessly, you are seen and you are worthy! #socialmedia #marketing #socialmediacareers #creativity
