Check out this great article by my colleague Shayla O. on mental health inclusion!
Communications Professional at BMS | Board Member | Certified in Mental Health First Aid USA® and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion | Certified Prosci® Change Practitioner
Check out my article in the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)'s latest Strategy & Tactics publication! Thank you, PRSA, for the chance to share a piece of DE&I that doesn't often get a spotlight on it: mental health. It impacts everyone in some way whether you yourself are experiencing a mental health condition or a loved one, friend or coworker. For many, unfortunately, discrimination experienced from a mental health illness is often in conjunction with experiencing other stereotypes and microaggressions based on skin tone, ability, sexual orientation, age and more. I shared a few areas where mental health bias can show up at work, including with hiring practices, performance reviews, teambuilding & happy hours, work location requirements and more. AND I've shared a few actions on mitigating some of these biases. Let me know what you think and if you have other actions to take to help advocate, support and ensure inclusion for those experiencing a mental health condition! #MentalHealth #DEI #DiversityEquityInclusion #Identity #Intersectionality #InclusiveWorkplace #MentalHealthAwareness #TalentAcquisition #PerformanceManagement #Teambuilding #worklocation #PRSA #Communications #PublicRelations #StrategyAndTactics #Publication

Happy New Month! I'm sure most of us have heard the importance of journaling, especially for our mental well-being. Unfortunately, we don't get to hear the WHAT & HOW. What exactly is journaling and how do we actually start? Is there a specific format? Do we have to do it on a daily basis? What if I live with people who don't respect my privacy and are itching to go through my journal? What if I don't have time to do it consistently? All these questions and much more will be discussed during today's live chat by an experienced occupational therapist with a knack in mental health. Fun fact: She's a consultant at Necessio Wellness Community so you can be sure to have an amazing session filled with fun and lots of learning. #otmonth2024 #journaling #how #why

Understanding the intersectionality between law, communication, and psychology is essential for addressing mental health issues in today’s diverse society. 🌍 Law provides crucial rights and protections, but people’s understanding of these laws can significantly impact their ability to navigate life effectively. Misunderstanding or lack of awareness of legal rights can create stress and anxiety, adversely affecting mental health. 😟 This issue is compounded by cultural differences that can influence how individuals perceive and interact with legal systems. Integrating communication and psychology with law can help break this cycle. Clear, culturally sensitive communication ensures that individuals understand their legal rights and how to exercise them. 🗣️ Psychology offers insights into the mental health impacts of legal stressors and helps tailor support to different cultural backgrounds. 🧠 By combining these disciplines, we can create support systems that are both legally sound and psychologically informed, providing individuals with the tools they need to navigate life confidently and maintain their mental health. This holistic approach fosters a more inclusive and supportive society, addressing the unique needs of diverse populations. 🌟 #MentalHealth #LegalSupport #Psychology #Law #Communication #Culture #InclusiveSupport #CulturalAwareness #HolisticHealth #FriendlyLaw #LegalLiteracy #Innovation #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalwellness #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthrecovery #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthwarrior #wellness #wellnessjourney #wellnessthatworks #wellnesscoach #wellnesslifestyle #wellnesswarrior
