Second-quarter reporting is underway for major bevcos. This morning, PepsiCo reported North American beverages turned in +1% organic revenue growth (same as Q1) on +5% higher pricing and a -3% decline in volume (-5% in Q1). The company overall lowered its full-year revenue outlook. Consumer pushback on inflated grocery prices was the story of the day, especially for PepsiCo's Frito-Lay portfolio. While still 'surgical,' expect to see more promotional and pack size activity to draw consumers back to the retail shelf. The Coca-Cola Company reports July 23 and Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. reports July 25. PBNA's decent away-from-home performance could be a good sign for those two.

### An Amazing Story of Coca-Cola 💥💯 Coca-Cola's journey began with American pharmacist Dr. John S. Pemberton, who crafted this iconic beverage on May 8, 1886, initially as a cure-all tonic. Combining coca leaves and kola nuts, Pemberton developed a dark liquid which he took to Jacobs' Pharmacy in Atlanta. Mixed with soda water, this concoction was sold for five cents a glass, quickly becoming a hit among customers. The now-famous Coca-Cola logo was designed by Frank M. Robinson, Pemberton's accountant, who believed the two Cs would create an appealing brand. Their first advertising campaign, featured in The Atlanta Journal, urged citizens to try this "popular new take-out drink". Early promotions also included the phrase "Drink Coca-Cola" prominently displayed on shop awnings. Despite the innovative approach, the first year saw only about nine glasses sold per day. In 1887, Pemberton registered the Coca-Cola Syrup and Extract copyright. Facing initial business struggles, he gradually sold his company shares. Eventually, Asa G. Candler acquired full control and, with strategic marketing, transformed Coca-Cola into a national sensation. Candler, along with his brother and partners, invested $100,000 in the company. Their marketing strategies, including free coupons and promotional items, significantly boosted Coca-Cola's popularity. By 1894, the first bottling facility was established in Dallas, Texas, and by 1895, Candler proclaimed that Coca-Cola was consumed in every state and territory in the U.S. Under Candler's leadership, syrup sales skyrocketed from 9,000 gallons in 1890 to 370,877 gallons by 1900.
