Together, we can conquer the unseen; all we need is decisive action. 💪🏽🌍 No one deserves to suffer from preventable diseases. We have recorded progress, but one case is one case too many. More needs to be done. In partnership with The END Fund, Delta Philanthropies has invested more than US$3,9 million in the national NTD program, facilitating at least 36 million treatments across four NTDs - SCH, STH, LF and Trachoma. If everyone comes to the table, NTDs can be eliminated faster than the current rate. This #WorldNTDDay, let us celebrate the progress and commit to action. With united efforts, we can #UniteActEliminate NTDs forever. #NTD #GlobalHealth #PublicHealth #HealthForAll #BeatNTDs

People living with Type 1 Diabetes can’t pause their healthcare needs during times of crisis. Increasing access to quality care for those in #humanitariansettings is critical. Managing #T1D requires consistent access to medication, monitoring equipment, and healthcare services — all of which can be severely disrupted during emergencies, forcing many to forgo critical care. This must change. This week, The Helmsley Charitable Trust is in Athens with International Alliance for Diabetes Action for the 4th Symposium on Diabetes in #HumanitarianCrises. We're discussing accessible care, sustainable financing, and the vital role of community-based organizations in supporting displaced populations and those with difficulty connecting to the health system. Disability, disfigurement and disadvantage are the reality of life for the 1.7 billion people affected by neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). Medicines Development for Global Health's singular focus in 2024 continues to be the development of new medicines to treat these diseases. In support of our pipeline of new medicines – moxidectin and dovramilast – we are pleased to announce the launch of our new philanthropy web page, where making a donation to change lives is easy and impactful. Moxidectin and dovramilast hold the prospect for improved treatments for up to seven NTDs, and in some conditions these medicines have the potential to accelerate disease elimination. You can learn more about those diseases at our website (medicinesdevelopment.com). But without funding we will not be able to conduct the rigorous clinical trials necessary to gain regulatory approval for these agents. As a not-for-profit organisation we do not have a revenue stream to fund our efforts, so we rely on grants, awards and the generosity of donors to advance our work. If you would like to help us in our efforts to eliminate NTDs, please visit us here https://lnkd.in/euk7bxBc to make a donation. We are registered as a charity/not-for-profit in Australia, the UK and the United States. #moxidectin #dovramilast #beatNTDs #onchocerciasis #lymphaticfilariasis #GlobalHealth #scabies #leprosy #donate #charity #NotForProfit

Barriers to type 1 diabetes (T1D) care and treatment are complex, deeply rooted, and increasingly urgent as cases of diabetes climb sharply around the world. Community-based organizations provide vital services and have unique insights into the challenges of existing health systems and barriers faced by people with type 1 #diabetes. The T1D Community Fund, powered by Panorama Global with seed funding from The Helmsley Charitable Trust, received more than 300 applications from community-based organizations for its second request for proposals last fall. This data sheds light on the global landscape of CBO's work on type 1 diabetes and helps us understand how CBOs are supporting people living with type 1 diabetes, the challenges they face, and emerging opportunities for investment. Read more about what The T1D Community Fund learned from CBOs that applied for funding from The T1D Community Fund: https://bit.ly/4c4H5NA Next week, we’ll announce the 2024 T1D Community Fund grant recipients from across Africa, Central and South Asia, Europe, and Latin America! Today, there are estimated to be around 81,000 people globally who are newly diagnosed with CML each year. Global health disparities disproportionately affect outcomes for people with CML in low income countries. This problem is amplified by the fact that CML is predicted to become the most prevalent leukaemia by 2040, when there are projected to be over three million patients worldwide. This summer a team of six riders are Riding for a Cure across the French Alps - 710km with an astonishing 16,600m of climbing. As they cycle, they'll be raising money for the iCMLf. At the iCMLf, we are committed to ensuring every patient with CML, no matter where they are in the world, receives the best possible care. We foster international collaboration to elevate education, enhance diagnostics, and drive ground-breaking research. Please show your support to the team Riding for a Cure and contribute to a world where a cure for CML is not just a hope, but a reality. A study was conducted by Dr. McCrae of the Cleveland Clinic examining the effect of pomalidomide for hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) patients, specifically on the severity of nosebleeds. The pomalidomide exhibited a reduction in the severity of the nosebleeds of HHT patients. However, it must be noted that the use of pomalidomide for reducing the severity of nosebleeds for HHT patients has not been reviewed or approved by the US government. This post should not be considered medical advice and individuals are advised to contact a healthcare professional for proper treatment and guidance. Nonetheless, the outcome of this study may hold promise for advancements in the treatment of HHT. An entire community of patients, their families, and friends benefit from increased HHT awareness and availability of care. Consider donating @ https://buff.ly/3mlyD7G to help those affected by HHT all around Canada. #gettested #HHT #donate #HHTawareness #advocacy #geneticdiseases #CureHHT #Canada References: McCrae, K. 🔬 Support Our Mission to Combat Delirium 🧠 Delirium—an acute, severe state of confusion—affects around 13% of hospital patients in Australia, often extending stays by up to three weeks. This complex condition is frequently undiagnosed, creating significant challenges for patient care. Leading researcher of Internal Medicine and Aged Care at RBWH, Professor Alison Mudge and her team have already made some powerful progress, including working with external partners to develop Eat Walk Engage® – a multi-disciplinary program that improves care for older people in hospital, prevents delirium and promotes faster recovery. Since it's establishment, the program has seen a remarkable 47% reduction in delirium rates of participants, providing safer care and getting older patients home to their families sooner. But the work isn't done yet. This month, the RBWH Foundation is raising funds to help improve outcomes for thousands of people affected by delirium, and other similar conditions, right across Australia.
