With a bunch of big conferences in our space next month, friendly reminder to the reps (predominantly younger men) that the chances of you closing a deal with the prospect you're hobnobbing with at a social event start dropping off a cliff after you exceed your first adult beverage. "I'm never doing business with them" is a comment I've heard from buyers at events like these more than once after they saw reps overindulging. Now, were those CROs/CFOs/CEOs 4-5 beverages deep and slurring their words? Sure. Is that "fair?" Nope. But life aint fair. This is all coming from someone who still sells every day for a living - or at least tries to 🥺 - and enjoys multiple fingers of High West as much as the next person. Feel free to nurse a nice glass of pinot noir. It'll make you look classy. Or if you're like Alyson and Eric and enjoy the taste of burned rubber, have some mezcal. 🤮 But nobody is going to judge you if you A) spend the remainder of the evening drinking water or club soda, or B) decide to not drink in general. Feel free to "ok boomer" me all you want, but if you take a step back and do the risk vs reward calculation here, I'm hoping you'll see my point. Flipping that deal you've been working on for 6 months to Closed Won > an extra glass of booze.

Dallas does everything big and the 12th Annual DFW Admin Awards is no exception. This year's program has broken all kinds of records including the largest number of nominations and largest number of attendees, exceeding pre pandemic numbers. We are on track to hit 640 attendees this year! That is some SERIOUS BIG LOVE for the region's extraordinary Administrative Professionals! And we're reminded that this would not be possible without Southwest Airlines, Robert Half, Marsh McLennan Agency, Stagen Leadership Academy, Toyota North America, LUMINI, Potter's House, Vizient, Inc, Bevi, Royal Catering and Beacon: The Platform for Forward-Thinking Administrative Professionals. There has been zero need to convince executives in DFW that showing up for their Administrative Professionals is important - they get it, nor has there been any need to convince area Administrators on the importance of showing up FOR public recognition and its importance in moving the profession forward. Danville BBQ fextival 2018. This was before Dan-O’s hats. We had a couple aprons made up and some banners. Paid $300 to get a booth and it was hot, humid and raining but we never stopped! Mainly because it was highly likely Dan-O’s bank account was close to or over drawn at the moment. I think about these days pretty often, the days when your future is uncertain. Get up everyday and put your shoes on and start walking the walk. Convincing yourself thats its all worth it. Conversations you have with yourself on a daily basis asking yourself are you doing it right? How can I provide value to people’s daily life? How can I get someone to just give me a chance? What am I doing wrong? What am i doing right? How can I reduce expenses but have the best results possible? Am I sampling the right way? Is my sales pitch building value to the customer? Do they understand why My product is different? Is there a way I can do this better? How did Dan-O’s win? 1. First Impression. It’s all about first impressions and how do people remember you and your brand. 2. Opportunities. Realize when, where and what your opportunitys are. Sometimes the biggest opportunities can be right infront of you and you don’t realize it. We are all given opportunities and its never in the same way, it’s realizing what your opportunities are and making the most out of them. 3. Hard Work, Hard Work, Hard Work. Be willing to outwork the competition, doing things others are not willing to do. Its the grind that makes you strong. I felt after my first 10 day state fair in 2017 that actually consisted of about 13 days total at average of 15hrs a day that I could do anything after that. 4. Knowing your why. Why are you doing what your doing? Whats your pourpose? If your doing it just because you want to get rich then good luck. Making Money and profit is a result of hard work, knowing how to run your business and making great decisions.. This leads me to number 5. Have a great product. Yum yum get ya sum! 🤠
