My first Association of National Advertisers conference today on influencer marketing! One anecdotal and three presentation takeaways: 1) Naturally, a big goal of influencer marketing is trying to quickly gain trust and exposure to a market you're not currently impacting, but you are missing a massive opportunity with your collaborations if content creation is the only thing it impacts...and likely won't really get that trust gain you're after. There is so much more value to be generated from these partnerships and LOVED what Claire's is doing with The Collab activation to impact their product offerings and where they unexpectedly show up. 2) Almost every presentation today talked about how social listening impacts their ability to execute on influencer marketing. If you're STRUGGLING to keep a pulse across social and the target demographic groups you're trying to impact, you're undoubtedly going to STRUGGLE to do influencer marketing well. 3) Ferrara's Nerds Gummy Clusters are so dang good. 4) Anecdotal: the professionals behind these influencer campaigns love what they do and are super proud (and should be!) of the amazing business results they're generating for their companies. They're having fun and are a fun group of people! That's a wrap. Will certainly not be my last ANA conference. #ANAInfluencer
